I live 30mins away from London via trains. Lots of things to do and see that are listed here. China town is great for food.

I don't recommend that at all. Very expensive. Much better to only buy a pass for the zones in which you will be travelling in. Many zones have no real value to tourists, thus can easily be avoided.
