I was shopping around for some 2.1 speakers and found these at the local Compusa store (Moon Township, PA). They were priced at $49.95 but rang up for $39.95. Review is pretty good and I can vouch for the sound quality which is definitely better than anything available for that price. There were two more available in store so keep a look out for them at your local Compusa.

I can vouch for these. They were selling a year or so again for around the same price (maybe cheaper). I use them to amplify musical instruments. Good for low level monitoring.

they've had these on clearance for a really long time now. I'm surprised your store still had them. I bought two sets a really long time ago, they are really nice for the price.

I got in on this a year or so ago... only then they were tagged at $199, and rang up at $39.99 -- which I combined with "25%-off speakers" coupon. </end brag>

They are the best 2.1 speakers I've heard.

edit: btw... if you hate that awful "sonic" logo, I was able to warm it a little and pry if off with a wide screwdriver. Under that plate/logo there are a couple holes where the volume/balance controls would go, just so you know. It doesn't affect the sound as far as I can tell to have the plate/logo off -- and it looks 100% better.

I got a set from that deal a while ago. I use them more often than my z560's. They are huge in size but sounds great for the price.

good description of these speakers: BIG AND UGLY.

...and very good soundwise. i can honestly say that it's the best speakers 40 dollars can buy.

highly recommend, if you have the deskspace and can overlook the aesthetics.

Didn't realize that this "deal" was well known. But then, everything moves slowly in these parts, which is probably why Compusa couldn't clear out the clearance items (pardon the pun). On the flip side, as a former resident of the SF Bay Area, shopping at B&Ms is a pleasure since there are hardly any crowds. I don't remember consistently getting a parking slot right next to the Costco stores when I lived there.

Back to the speakers, I've been listening to them for a couple of hours now and the clarity is phenomenal. I'm going to pick up one more set at the store for use in another room.

Thumbs up for this speaker. For $40.00 bucks, you cant go wrong with this. I bought 2 last time they had the $49.99 deal.

I missed out on the deal last time, but picked up a set off of ebay for cheaper. Thumbs up for these speakers, they're like getting Klipsch 2.1's only for 40 bucks.

Yah they been clearance for stores have them left for ages...
Ive heard all same things about them as previous people have said

But yah, woah! there fricken ugly /me starts coming up with mod ideas in his head...

remove all logo's
very carefully tape up the grills
and get some rustolium plastic paint and take your time (sand,clean,lightcoat... repeat, till nice coat)
paint em black, or blue, or........something

want to get rid of the ugly grills (if you think they are) then pop them off and cut away all but 1" around the edges
then cover the whole front with speaker cloth and fasten it to the back with glue or something

These are fantastic speakers...picked them up last year for $20. YMMV for that price I guess.

There originally retailed for 300 bux, but as previously stated have been clearanced at CompUSA for over a year. I bought 4 pair @ 50 bux a set and sold them for over a 100 a set after people heard them. Great speakers!

Picked up three sets about a year ago. Big sound, but pretty big speakers for a desktop. I've got two sets on my two tv sets and one set still in the box

Many people I know got these for Xmas last year. THey're still thanking me :)

As far as 2-speaker systems go, they're hard to beat. They work fairly well in a 4.2 setup as well.

Looking for help here.

Symptom: No sound from the left speaker.

I know both speakers are good because when I plug the white jack for
left speaker into the red plug (which is for the right speaker), the
left speaker sounds perfectly. This also shows the cable is good. By
using the same method, I prove the cable connecting soundcard and
subwoofer has no problem too. And I tested my sound card with another
pair of speakers. It is good too. Therefore, it seems there is
something wrong inside the subwoofer.

I love the sound of these speakers so much. So please help!
