Television is mind control

I've been starting to realize it more and more every day. TV is telling us what to think, and how to act. Some stations are obviously bigger culprits than others, but most if not all of television is slipping values to us, without us even knowing it. Watching childrens TV is the absolute worst culprit, they do it right in your face by telling you out loud what to think.

Not that I think theres some secret society out there running everything from the background, but TV does not reflect real life. The absolute worst culprit is MTV. The programs and people on MTV are a blatant distortion of real life. Ugly people are worthless on MTV. The most important thing is looking good, and sex is everything. Just take one look at britney spears. Unfortunately, she is the primary role model on tv for young girls. Every girl wants to be britney spears. Its sickening. Thinking for yourself isnt the answer. Just be cool, and follow the pack.

One of my friends just got into his first relationship, and my god, the both have them act like they have watching FAR FAR too much MTV. I dont even know how to describe it really, but they just met each other, and after 2 days the girl just dropped the L-bomb. They barely know each other.

Not that CNN is really any better. Telling us what is important in the world, and who is right and who is wrong. After sept 11 things only got worse. Now unless you were a fanatical patriot, youre not a good american. Again, leave the thought up to CNN. They'll tell you who's right and who's wrong. Bad arafat!

Anyone else know what I'm saying? I know I'm kind of babbling because I just woke up, but I know what I'm saying has some truth under it. I'm only 21 right now, and it seems like for the past couple years I've slowly been unlearning everything force fed to me by TV for my entire life. I'm beginning to see the hidden messages in nearly everything. I dont really watch much TV anymore, but when I do, it hurts my head sometimes cause its so in your face.

Not all TV is trash. Try as hard as I can, I cant really find much wrong with a good comedy, as long as values arent force fed down my throat, whether intentional or not. And the history and discovery channel pretty much just give it to you straight and dont tell you what to think.

Sitcoms teach us values by example. The news tells us who is good and who is bad. Sports tell us that everything else, including your health, is secondary to winning. Talk shows show us who not to be. MTV tells teenagers and young adults exactly how to be.

I'm not a dick that can't have a good time, I just think TV is an absolute abomination right now. Maybe its just a phase. I'd rather play some pc games, where even though its usually mindless violence, at least youre forced to think for yourself and not sit with your mouth wide open drooling on yourself watching pre-made programming. And a good book will definitely do it for me, since you really do have to have your own imagination to enjoy it.

Am I crazy or have I finally seen the light?

<< anything is mind control to the weak minded. >>

I was going to say small minded but that works.

I guess that new Samsung HD 47" Widescreen that I just bought should control me nicely. :D

BAH!

Nobody controls you, but you. Sure people shove their agendas on you from every direction... tv included... but in the end it's you that makes the decisions of what you believe.

Hehe, 3 lifers in 3 minutes. Dont you guys have jobs?

I'm not saying TV is really mind control per se, but sometimes I feel like its certainly trying pretty hard.

The newspaper can be even worse than TV at some times. But it feels like TV is the absolute worst offender. I do not want my kids watching TV all day like I did.

Quit watching TV about 5 years ago. All those cable/sat chan's and not a ucking thing on. Got to the point that I would watch the news once in a while then they started to jack up the monthly fee. Well I puled the plug on the thing and don't miss it. I'll watch occasional DVD and get my news from the net and/ot talk radio. I think thats why HDTV is stalled. Who wants to watch the crap on TV in high def??

You've finally seen the light. Now that you have a handle on the manipulation on the sensationalism and marketing schemes of both the media and the advertisers, you can now watch all of your favorite shows without being vulnerable! :D

Actually I toned down my tv a few years back for the same reasons. Usually I just watch sports or cnbc or pbs/documentary type shows, except I've gotten ultra sick of things lately and have my tv in the basement and only WinTV on my computer, but with my cable tv account closed.

See, but the psych major part of me is telling me no matter how hard I try, I'm going to be affected by it. Especially the advertisement.

Maybe its just me, but it seems like TV is getting worse. Its getting more trashy, more primal, and just plain sickening to watch.

I don't watch any of that prime time crap. Either the History Channel or TLC for me.

We are in fact so profoundly able to self determine who we are that there is no such thing as national identity or cultural differences in the way we think. Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight. Nothing funnier than a programmed automaton claiming it's intellectual freedom.

I'm 18 and I agree completely. TV is trash. It really bothers me that some of my friends watch what they feed us. You have seen the light.

I don't have a TV. Why be involuntarily fed smut and mind control when I can get smut and mind-control on-demand right here on the internet?
