Is there any way to get multiple phone lines at your house that both have the same number allowing multiple incoming calls to happen at the same number. How does this work with companies. They have one number but many calls can be placed at the same time.

You sure can!

Just buy a PBX and hire a telecom engineer to administer it.

Also, even though you'll have just one public facing telephone number, you will still need multiple incoming phone lines to handle more than one phone call at a time.

For a couple of lines, you don't even need a PBX. Cheapo two and three line phones will work. Of course, you'd miss all the features of a PBX. I installed and administer a half-dozen Comdial PBX's at various businesses.
