telephone buttons... what musical notes are they?

Well there is a standard tone on all regular tone telephones. Of course you can use them to play jingle bells or mary had a little lamb etc. Does anyone know, or know where I can find what musical note each of them are equivalent to? I figure it's gotta be somewhere online.

I can't think of a use for it off hand, but it's just something that hit me and now I want to know... you know?

Yes and it makes it really easy to steal people's information.

I cannot believe Motorola cell phones still play the DTMF tones through the speaker/earpiece when a person is dialing. It's really inviting for a simple breach.

It's easy to build a simple codec for this.

I have created a sound file for you. While playing this, hold your mouthpiece next to the speaker. Your phone should connect to Microsoft Tech Support, in this example.
