This is ridiculous. I've gotten two telemarketing calls on my cell phone today. These idiots actually cost me money. Has this happened to anyone else?

Its illigal for them to do so. Tell them its a cell, and theyll hang up quick.

Not on a cell so far. But I did get a couple of calls on a landline even though I'm on the do-not-call list.

I've been getting text messages by spammers. I'm not sure how they got hold of the phone number since I hardly use this cell phone. I think I haven't made a call on it in 2 months.

I did too but I signed my cell phone on the national do-not-call list (for home phone #'s) & haven't gotten one since.

My wife told me that starting today cell #s were fair game for telemarketers, or some subset.

I use to get junk text messages on my old phone, hated that crap. Nothing on my new one yet for the past few years.

I only get texts' from Cingular, which are free. Most have actually been pretty helpful like listing the google text search features and the "find a song" number or informing me of voice mail changes.

This is ridiculous. It was alright on land lines when the call centers get billed for the whole conversation, but now the public gets billed for wasted minutes. I'm already on the do not call list- I don't understand why this is happening.

I got a call on my cell phone from the Pontiac dealer, saying "we want to buy your car immediately, come on down!" Of course, the car's on loan from my parents so I don't actually OWN a car. I tell her so, and hang up. 60 seconds later, I get a call from the same person on my cell. I've got BOTH numbers in their database; the cell's an emergency contact number. Is she UNABLE to read that the name, car, make, model, year, and my street address are exactly the same?!

The National Do Not Call Registry gives you a choice about whether to receive telemarketing calls at home. Most telemarketers should not call your number once it has been on the registry for 31 days. If they do, you can file a complaint at this Website. You can register your home or mobile phone for free. Your registration will be effective for five years.

You call that "Helpfull"? I'd be pissed.

I got dozens of calls overall(a few calls daily) from three different telemarketers starting about three weeks ago on my tracfone pre-paid cell. I just looked at the caller ID when the phone rang and let it go voicemail everytime they called, and as of last Thursday they haven't called again yet(hopefully they won't call anymore).

Yes, I call it "helpful".

It's free, takes a second to read the text and it's nice knowing that in X number of days all the voicemail from X date and before is going to be deleted. It's also nice having the google commands saved in the phone if I was to ever need them. And while I have my own "find a song number" called "remembering the lyrics and typing them into google", it's nice to know I could have the song instantaneously if I wanted.

I spoke too soon, got a call a few minutes ago from a fourth telemarketer. :disgust:
