I wouldn't put it past Scott Boras to claim there are "other offers" that are higher to try to get the Sox to pay more. Could be Henry calling Boras's bluff. "Ok, if there are higher offers, go for it."

That said, as a Sox fan, I'm not really sold on Teixeira anyway. I think it would be great if the Nationals got him.

While I would love to see the Orioles sign him (we haven't had a real first baseman in what? a decade?), there's no way in hell Angelos is going to pay him $20 million a year. Not with one of the lowest attendance totals in MLB. Tex is a Yankee or Nat.
