teeth question

is there a way to determine if i have a cavity in my teeth before i go to my dentist checkup

If you can find a small enough mirror (don't be an idiot and use a piece of broken mirror) and a decent light source, developed caries can look very obvious like this. However, it isn't uncommon to see cavities form in between teeth such as you can just about make out in this example.

Further, you have gum disease and/or recession and/or cavities to be concerned about all the while. Go to your dentist (you should be getting 6-monthly checkups anyway) and ask him/her. I'm sure they'll lend you a hand mirror to demonstrate what they are talking about.

Best of luck.
