I have been to my share of Urgent Care Clinics and thankfully the staff know what they can and cannot handle! When I got sick in 2015 and almost passed away it was an Urgent Care Doctor who i went to see for the 2nd time in 2 weeks ! She took my keys from em and called am ambulance that took me to the hospital, I had pneumonia and many complications! Urgent care has a place but NOT in life threatening matters!

That said, all of these clinics accept cash. You don't have to have insurance.

So..If a life and death stabbing victim shows up needing just basic life saving procedures with just 20 bucks in his pocket...What do they do?..Run a credit check before they stop the bleeding? These doctors and nurses swear to oaths. I have never used an "Urgent Care". Sounds like a shitty place

They'd do what anyplace else would do: Call 911.

It's much like a lot of places in Chicago will not take shooting victims in areas where gang activity is around.

I would say they would at the very least first call 911 and perhaps try to stop the bleeding!

Did you just you say that with a straight face?

"Urgent Care" is a chain of clinics you find at strip malls and business districts.

The ER is the emergency wing of any hospital. You know: Where an ambulance is likely to take you in a real emergency.

If anyone has any trouble telling the difference then I have to ask what planet they came from. Urgent Care doesn't have patient rooms, isolation wards, ventilators, surgeons, or people who intubate. It's seriously just a doctor's office chain that doesn't require a doctor's appointment. When you can't see your GP in time for that doctor's note that excuses you from work, you go to Urgent Care. They aren't a hospital.

you've just demonstrated my point.

What could Urgent Care do to save his life? They aren't a hospital. They can't treat COVID-19... whether you have insurance and do the paperwork or not.
Newsflash, hospitals can't treat covid-19 either. What they can do and what urgent care can do is manage respiratory problems. Depending on the severity, underlying health issues and, individual resistance, hospitals MAY be better suited to dealing with emergencies arising from covid-19.

Hospitals have respirators, ventilators, intubation, etc. Pretty clear difference.

Show up to the urgent care with a gun and inform them it’s fucking urgent. This is the American way.

I am sorry that you believe that...are you speaking from experience or just off the top of your head?
Because i am speaking from experience! At least in my part of the country!
I don't just believe it, I know it. In our company at the last few health insurance enrollment meetings we've been explicitly told to only go to ER if and only if we have true medical emergency as in we believe our life might be in danger, otherwise we risk our ER bill not covered. So yes it's very real. The only reason I linked that article is because it carries more weight than the word of a random stranger on the internet.

You are confusing the term "Urgent Care" with a particular "chain" of urgent care clinics.

Many Hospitals have urgent care clinics within their campus.

It is a term for a level of care offered, not a corporate brand name.

China is laughing at us. They know our Achilles heel now, we are far more vulnerable to a biological attack than they are because our health care system is optimized for profit, not protecting Americans. We are a paper tiger to them now.

Well, perhaps they need to change the name of the place to "Not So Urgent Care" or "Selective Care". Maybe they need a disclaimer sign on the door of the place - "We will not render any life saving first aid unless you have insurance or the means to pay. If not, we will just call 911 and defer these life saving duties to someone else, all of our good doctors and nurses here hope emergancy services gets here in time to save your life". "Good luck and have a nice day!"

AFAIK, that's not the reason for not taking shooting victims. Those people need trauma centers - not every ER is considered one.

Is that a joke?

It's one thing to think Urgent Care can do more than they can, but the ER is part of a hospital. How can anyone equate the two?!

In Texas the majority of ERs are now freestanding and not attached to an actual hospital.

With trick questions to pose for drivers in disabled vehicles or those in accidents, I refuse first aid to Trumper Filth and their kids, so I can savor their hideous space-alien screams as I salute the flag, pop open a Bud, and watch as they bleed, burn and die in the ditch!

It's because of their space-alien, degenerate, mental-health pre-existing condition, ya see!

Prepare to die, MotherF***ers! Let slip the dogs of Civil War! We'll finish it this time without Lincoln's mercy!

And . . . guns?! 2nd Amendment rights?! We don' need no stinkeen rights! We'll just raid a federal armory and steal them guns!

Looked into this further, lots o' bullshit here designed to pander to folks.

One - The urgent care center while denying the kid, told him to go to a hospital.

Two - An urgent care center doesn't have the testing means - nor the facility means of dealing with COVID-19. That's not even a question.

Three - The death associated with it is still apparently up for debate, as they have locally taken him off the death counter for COVID-19

They are going to say a 17 year old died of a heart attack and not covid to keep their numbers low.

The reality is there atleast 1/5th of covid 19 fatalities are being caused by cardiac arrest due to cytostorms or myocarditis. These are still death caused by covid but you better believe the govt won’t count them towards covids death toll just to make the numbers look better.

Would you go to Burger King when you have a life threatening injury?
