Damn, I'm from Texas and I can't think of any place that takes High School football any more serious, and I am not so sure if this kid would have gotten off so easy down in Texas.

Two things.

1. You are correct in that no place in America takes high school football more seriously than Texas.

2. He would have gotten the needle.

That right here is pretty fvcked up.

One BIG reason I think sports is CRAZY in this country, look how it screws up people's priorities!

I'm not sure I see the point in keeping him locked up, he's hardly a danger to anyone.

Though "releasing him for football" makes it sound really bad what does keeping him in jail accomplish?

He's still in a sh!tload of trouble, it's not like this makes it disappear.

Agreed, jail accomplishes nothing. As an alternative, the bastard should be killed.

"This was a tragic accident based on a mistake. Were not talking about somebody who planned to go out and hurt another human being. This could have happened to any one of us."

Bullshit. The kid was high and talking on his cell phone? Put his ass in jail for every year that girl doesn't get to live. He killed two people and ruined at least one other life.

Unbelievable. Just goes to show you what America's priorities are. :disgust:

He isn't serving a sentence. His case hasn't even been tried yet so it wouldn't be unusual for him to be out of jail entirely. (bail)

The only reason this is news is because of the reason given for releasing him. The judge could have released him on bail until his trial date and no one here would have said a word because that wouldn't be news.

Technically he hasn't been convicted so he's pretty much out on bail and this is just the terms of his bail right?

just using the medical terms. I realize that an 8 month old fetus is viable and therefore can be called a baby.

Not trying to come down on you or go too far off-topic but after almost losing both my kids during pregnancy (was told that I could hold my premature daughter in my hands while she died) and both being born prematurely (8weeks and 6weeks) plus seeing all the babies in the hospital that were born even earlier than they were.....I've really come to despise the word "fetus". It's become a sickly dehumanizing term to me.

hmm, ya, very understandable.
<---- was born at 7 months after mom's water broke. I was big for 7 months!!! almost 4 lbs!!!

Anyways, the kid is in total misery. Maybe we should take him out of his misery by killing him in the worse way. We need deterence. To get the best deterence, we need SEVERE, inhumane practices to punish people to serve as examples of what can happen to a person if they break the law.

even mistakes can be prevented by not smoking pot and reaching for the cell phone while making a turn.
