Will we see 45 year olds with vision loss, or ealry signs of heart disease.

I don't know about vision loss, but diabetes and heart disease have definitely become increasingly more common for increasingly younger people, mostly because of obesity.

In regard to this story, you have to wonder about the parents. I know you can't force someone to eat foods they don't want too, but still.

Seems like he would've gotten scurvy at a minimum. Mom should have ground up multivitamins to sprinkle on the crap he was eating.

He also ate "slices of processed ham and sausage", not that it's a huge improvement over the list in the title.

Blindness is one thing you can get from diabetes if left untreated for a while right?

Not surprising....

You can thank shit like our FDA over the years from telling everyone that processed junk is good for you and you need to consume it the most. Guess what happened?

That mean ol' nasty FDA is so powerful they made a British kid go blind.

Dude should have eaten more Kale, or something.

Would that article have been written, had he been nutrient-deficient, and professing to be a Vegan, or Vegitarian? I know a lot of them develop mineral deficiencies, from lack of eating meat.

Wasn't it Woody Allen, or somesuch, in a movie, that said in the future, the best nutrition would be found out to be a cheeseburger and a chocolate shake, or something? Could be true!

I worry a little bit about things like this, as I don't eat enough "leafy greens" myself. Though I get my B vitamins from Energy Drinks and whatnot.

Its actually a proven fact that vision degration caused by diabeties, is reversible before blindness. All one has to do is stop eating anything that has sugar, and continually be sugar defficent in diet.

That's pretty scary had no idea it was even possible for unhealthy eating to have such vast effects. I guess it makes sense, your eyes like any other body part need certain nutrients to stay in good working order.

Are you suggesting that microwave-oven cooking is unsafe? You should forward your evidence to the FDA. Maybe together we can get microwave oven banned, and save lives!

Edit: Sorry to be an asshole to you. I know that you're going through your own health issues, and that you actually care about mine, otherwise you just wouldn't have even bothered to say anything. So I'm sorry.

i think he meant that microwave food is typically garbage, and garbage food will eventually kill you.
so a microwave diet is ultimately bad.

So, if I continue to massively eat hot dogs, he would be OK with it, as long as they were boiled in a pot, or fried in a skillet, or grilled?

What the... This is an extreme case, but you have to wonder if we will see similar cases in 20 years, because our diet is so poor. Will we see 45 year olds with vision loss, or ealry signs of heart disease.

If your parents let you eat whatever you want, then they dont give a shit about you.
If your parents dont give a shit about you, YOU ARE FUCKED.
And theres literally hundreds of books telling parents to not be so soft and passive, to take charge of their kids and make them do the right thing whether they want it or not. Because of either lazy or warped parenting, this boy is going to have a horrible life from now on.

And I dont care if they say he has normal BMI, I want pics of this kid.
I wanna know what it looks like when a teenager has been raised on processed starch.

No, it's that microwaveable foods tend to be on the same nutritional level as those hot dogs.

What food isn't microwaveable? You're meaning "frozen dinners" which even those aren't that unhealthy these days, but the problem with them is less the nutrition and more that they have preservatives like nitrates which are known to cause cancer when consumed in excessive quantities (but that's in a lot of the meat outside of fresh cut stuff). In fact they'd probably offer more nutrition and variety of nutrition than a lot of people get from less processed foods and almost for damn sure would over a hot dog unless you're dressing up the dog a lot (which most people don't dress it up with healthy things).

Congrats your beer consumption has increased your risk of cancer. Just like consuming nitrates from processed foods. I'd guess overconsumption of alcohol would have similar impact as overconsumption of those other foods with regards to things like obesity and the like as well.

One of the things I've come to realize about situations like this is that these people don't exist without enablers. Using this as an example & not to pick on anyone, someone linked this video of a 700-pound guy recently on ATOT...the most telling quote was from the dad: "I wait on him hand & foot...I shouldn't do it, but I do." Yes, people should absolutely take responsibility for their own situations...but they also have to be supported by other people in order to live their lifestyle & be allowed to get to that point. I'm sure there's more to the story in this case...I mean, I was a super picky eater until my tastebuds changed when I was 20 or so, so I understand what it's like to not want to eat certain things. Pretty rough to go blind before you get out of your teenager years from something preventable though...dang.

That reminds me of the chicken nugget story. There were a couple of girls who only ate chicken nuggets & got pretty bad health issues. The first one's mom was pretty upset but also couldn't force her daughter to eat anything else. Her health got so bad that she got hospitalized after 15 years on chicken nuggets:

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/...s-eating-McDonalds-chicken-nuggets-age-2.html

The second one got cured by hypnotherapy, apparently:

Man, I'm gonna go eat a Flintstone vitamin now...
