Don't forget no flag pin and not placing hand over heart during national anthem.

Remember those horrors??
What about things like Michelle not having to hear from the evening news broadcast about her husband having an affair with a porn star? Terrible times indeed. Good thing we have such a morally upstanding group of people at the helm now.

This is the disconcerting thing about some modern American conservatives. They may spread false rhetoric about the left wanting fascism, but you ask hardline conservatives like Nugent about their views and they would genuinely be happy if the entire left was removed from the picture, would genuinely cheer on the deaths of democracy and the free press so long as the Republicans were in charge.

There are plenty of moderate conservatives out there, to be clear, but they're being drowned out in the Trump era by the more vicious followers who think the US would be better-off if the Democrats were declared illegal. I'm happy having a conservative counterpoint -- we need that conservative counterpoint -- but I want it to be an intelligent strain of conservatism like that of Buckley or Frum, not the childish Fox News/Breitbart/Daily Caller strain that's willing to destroy democracy just so its side 'wins.'

Yes, he's repeated it to more than one source, and then also back pedaled, read his wiki, dude is 100% full of shit, just like the great orange one.

Well the story Nugent told was about being covered in shit to avoid service. In any event, it is hard to talk about Ted without shit getting mentioned.

Frankly who gives a flying F* what Nugent says or thinks. Paying attention to him is like when righties bring up some ridiculous statement some Democratic town council member in Podunk, Nowhere says.

Nugent is a lot like Trump and lot of other right wing media stars-they live for media attention and will issue the most outrageous statements to get that attention.

Yep. He's told the story more than once, and also back pedaled and claimed he had student waivers. His wiki says the timeline indicates both are plausible as his student and health waivers are separate and didn't overlap.

Then WTF was Nugent doing in the White House?

He & Wayne LaPierre are the official spokesmen of the ammosexuals.

You're right in many ways. The problem, as I see it, is that Nugent increasingly reflects what many American conservatives think: it's not enough for them to disagree with the left, they want to obliterate it. For all their complaining about the liberal hive mind, they sure don't seem to have a problem with the thought of an absolute right-wing monoculture.

out of curiosity; like what? Can I have an example or two? There was a DC councilman who said the weather was controlled by the Rotchilds. He was roundly criticized by his party, lectured by jewish org, said he learned something and apologized. Horrible I know..

Nudgent is on the board of a very powerful national lobby group, at rallies for many GOP senators, and invited to inauguration. A bit higher profile. Until a crazy podunk city council person gets that kind of exposure I think Nugent is a different league of craziness being tolerated.

Advocating the shooting of non-violent liberals is the first step towards arguing for the random grenading of children crawling through tunnels.
Do you suppose that they secretly applaud the chemical attack on children in Syria?

Considering I overheard this the last time I was in a Baptist Church "eat your ham like a good liitle mooslum. Who am I kidding, there is no such thing as a good mooslum." Other guy "well a dead mooslum." First, "that's right, the only good Muslim is a dead Muslim." I think they are probably just fine with chemical weapons being used on Muslim children.

Of course my in-laws lecture us about how our daughter needs church in her life.

Why hasn't he been kicked into the long grass by the Repubs? He's a degenerate, drug taking, paedophile rock "star", that dodged the military. Isn't that everything they hate?

Only if libtards do it. When their own do it, it isn't just tolerated, it's shouted as true Americanism.

I try to avoid him but its pretty much only his support for owning guns and wearing cowboy hats that resonates with the mainstream right surely? They can't find someone better for that and tell him to fuck off?

They don't care.

They are a very, very exclusive group.

Once you're a member, your rights rarely get revoked. Look at the thought leaders of the right, who have been shown as liars for decades...who are still thought leaders.

They don't care about right and wrong. They care about saying the correct conjuring words that prove that they are members of the club.
