And here's why simple pledges like that are a terrible idea. The nationwide online employment survey you mention would have a massive selection bias, demographic bias, etc, etc.

So basically the survey your candidate would be promising would be worse than useless, it would be actively disinformative. Sure you still want simple pledges?

What?

No

It was probably more like how GOOD the opponent was. This is Texas that elected him afterall, the state that prides itself on executing innocent people rather than admitting they screwed up. (see the thread about that).

Just because someone doesn't use specific words doesn't mean their meaning isn't still very clear. Racists generally avoid blatant use of racial epithets in public, but then they replace them with "thug" or "skittle". Doesn't make it any less obvious what their meaning is. And it's beyond obvious that Ted Cruz believes we should eliminate the few remaining limits that would let the rich just outright buy our democracy. He's a cartoon villain.

All it means is that you do not understand what paraphrasing is.

What you did was troll the title.

Apparently the liberals feel that their people can get away with all sorts of mis-truths and deflections; but their opponents must to the false liberal guidelines

And what is worse, is that the people still running ATPN are of the same mindset.

Conservatives get slapped, liberals get coddled.

There is a difference between setting up a straw man and simply extrapolating the end result of someone's statements.

Remember a couple years ago when Fox News was freaking out that the poor have things like microwaves and refrigerators? How do you think that translates into feelings about the poor having internet access?

paraphrase: a restatement of a text or passage giving the meaning in another form, as for clearness; rewording.
I reworded what he said as to make it clear what he was proposing. I did EXACTLY what paraphrasing is.
And then we have more conservative playing the victim.

You are aware that poor people get subsidized internet, right? And subsidized computers.

This isn't research shill, its people's lives.

A person is a person is a person no matter what their demographics are.

A foundational principle of research design is to get an unbiased sample that is representative of what you're trying to measure. People of differing employment statuses would have wildly different probabilities of answering such a survey as would people of different social, demographic, and economic backgrounds. ie: the sample you would get would not be representative of your population, so it would be shit.

Assuming the purpose of the survey is to figure out how many Americans are employed/unemployed/whatever, it would be worse than useless.

You're an aggressively stupid and ignorant individual.

That's a good thing, unless you want their spawn to remain as ignorant as possible.

I know its a good thing, I really do. I also know its a good thing that they get free cell phones, I really do. I also know its a good thing they get free food, I really do. I also know its a good thing they get free rent, I really do.

BUT....

It frustrates me to no end when people act like we are letting people die in the street because they are poor. We already give them a ton of help. A TON. But then every other day I'm hearing about how we need to raise taxes because we need to help the poor people. Well what in the fuck? At what point do we say enough? Free food, free place to live, free cell phone, basically free internet...hell these people are getting for free what I have to bust my ass to get.

At some point we have to stop handing people every single thing they want and tell them to work if they want it. Or just admit there is a large portion of the population who don't want to work and deal with them separate from the people who do want to work.

No one needs to buy it; it has been self evident for past 10 years or so.

The delusions of the right wing have always fascinated me. It makes you wonder what kind of brain damage one would have to have to think such a way.

That conservatives can climb down from the cross? More like 20 years.

Which lines up nicely with the amount of time they've been tearing down the govt & discarding the last shreds of decency & fair play they ever had.

This whole right to all the anonymous political free speech you can pay for being just another example of that.

When donors need to hide behind a myriad of institutes, think tanks & non-profits, it's like the Wizard of Oz hiding behind the curtains.
