I thought the ACA stated that Congress had to get their healthcare through the ACA. President, too, I think.

http://www.cnn.com/2015/03/24/politics/ted-cruz-obamacare/index.html

The newly announced Republican presidential candidate told CNN's Dana Bash on Tuesday that he will sign up for health care coverage through the Affordable Care Act -- a law he has been on a crusade to kill.

what political stunt is this guy trying to pull?
why cant he get health insurance thru the senate?
I thought the ACA stated that Congress had to get their healthcare through the ACA. President, too, I think.

So he voluntarily obeys the law and people want to crucify him for it.

Does Jedi have any understanding of the law?

Liberals are terrified that a thing like Ted Cruz can even exist. How can a modern American be that deranged, that mentally out there, that far gone, totally mad, in need of institutionalization. He's the Zombie Apocalypse all wrapped up in one. It's like America is walking around in the world with this big worm named Ted Cruz crawling out it's nose. You watch that idiot open his mouth and you feel a need for a bath. Lance that boil, puke in the toilet, and squeeze out the puss. The guy pooped in the communal wine.

It's a grandstanding load of bullshit.

The "federal contribution" works like this-

The formula for government contributions is the same formula used for other federal employees. The government contribution will equal the lesser of: (1) 72 percent of amounts OPM determines are the program-wide weighted average of premiums in effect each year, for Self Only and for Self and Family enrollments, respectively, or (2) 75 percent of the total premium for the particular plan an enrollee selects.

http://www.opm.gov/healthcare-insur...lity-enrollment/#url=Members-of-CongressStaff

Referenced payments are the same as those for any federal employee. The new law didn't give our politicians anything that other federal employees don't receive under their group health plan. It brought them into the health plan on an equal footing.

Shame on ya', Ted, and shame on anybody gullible enough to buy your bullshit.

He crazy. Looks like a bartender in a prohibition era speakeasy. I saw him on fox last night and he raised his hands to the air and said "God bless fox news!" I'm waiting to see that clip being played over and over.

Would be news to me I guess.

I remember it being a big deal. When the ACA was proposed the general public cried that they were writing healthcare law that would apply to us but not them, like they had no skin in the game, so they added the provision that they all had to go through the exchanges as well. Once the law went into effect it created a problem for their staff, who also had to go through the exchanges, because the federal government offers health insurance and you can't get subsidies if you decline your employer's offering. That led to Congress passing exemptions for their staff which led to the GOP pretending that Congress were exempting themselves because the law was crappy and the uniformed lapped that horseshit up. The GOP reps even voted against the exemption, fucking their own staff just to score political points with their idiotic constituents.

Ted Cruz's path to the White House:
Step 1: Pledge to completely repeal Obamacare.
Step 2: Sign up for Obamacare.
Step 3: ???
Step 4: President Cruz!

He could COBRA through his wife or she could seek coverage outside of the ACA exchanges at their personal expense (as it would likely be more expensive than through the ACA). I suppose if he wanted to truly stand behind his position, he would do those things, but he won't.

Ted takes the money! It's the only principle he's ever had!

So the ACA is his cheapest option? :awe:

The best part - Ted thinks what he is doing will unhinge and unravel everything Obama has done.

Oh, you just all sit back and watch how Ted is going to topple King Obama....

Maybe because it's News. And Politics.

This Forum is called Politics & News.

That's what people discuss in here.

News. And Politics.

Because Cruz is the first of many to emerge from the "Clown Car" and formally announce that he's running, from now on anything he says or does is relevant to the upcoming election.
