Ted Cruz is actually, literally, worse than useless.

I predict a breaking news story involving him "wide stancing" in an airport bathroom any day now.

Ted Cruz represents the entire Tea Party movement? Love the hypocrisy of liberals when they get outraged someone calls out radical Islam but they do this.

There is no way the bill will pass and it should be scrapped, there are much more important things to focus on and Cruz is wrong for coming up with this bill.

Ted Cruz Introduces Anti-Gay Marriage Bill

The thread title bugs me on several levels (yes, I acknowledge it's the title of the article):

1. Sounds like the bill is to allow anti-gay supporters the right to marriage.

2. The bill looks to me to be about states' rights. I saw nothing in the article to suggest it was about outlawing gay marriage:

The bill's authors sent out a release about the bill Thursday afternoon, saying "it will ensure the federal government gives the same deference to the 33 states that define marriage as the union between one man and one woman as it does to the 17 states that have chosen to recognize same-sex unions."

Similar recognition to states' marriage laws is all I see here.

It would be nice if the article explained at least somewhat what the damn point is. As far as I know the federal govt is already recognizing various states' marriage laws. So, what's the point here? Ted? Anybody? I suppose I must ask because this is another vapid P&N thread without a real point and just here to mindlessly bash the other political side.

A bill that lets States decide. I'd agree with that.

From a PR standpoint though, it's a terrible thing to start with. State's rights have far greater concerns to raise, ones which wouldn't be touted as religious conservatism.

Did you email him and tell him he's barking mad with Rabies-Strangelove Disorder?

It's refreshing to see you make sense when you don't like the 'type' either. It must be fun to belong to the political part of the spectrum that is producing so many demented psychotics they are creating their own extinction event.

point of the bill is a yet another useless political stunt by ted cruz. useless political stunts deserve to get bashed.

Fail. You don't have to introduce a law to be a bigot.

if you really think obama was against gay marriage then i have a bridge to sell you.

Yes I explicitly opted to keep the thread title the same as the article. The point isn't to attack the other side, but to point out that as much as the Tea Party like to claim they're about conservative economics, that they bring up socially conservative issues just as much or more.

As far as states' rights go, they cannot trump the Constitution. And judges are regularly determining that banning gay marriage violates the Constitution. We will likely end up in the next couple years with the USSC having to weigh in on this.
