What is there to explain? The guy just trolled democrats, Obama, big govt conservatives(republican leadership) and liberals for the past two weeks.

Ted Cruz is a big govt conservative. look at his voting record it doesnt resemble dr. paul's one bit.

The loony left is doing anything they can to deflect off of Obamacare and to change the narrative of the failure to come, fortunately Cruz gave them all the ammo they need to last for at least a week.

What I see is a bunch of people more worried about their own preservation, rather than doing what is best for the nation.

Exactly! Non-Tea Party Republicans were craven for kowtowing to their own radical fringe. The shutdown literally cost our country billions of dollars, hurt our financial credibility in the world, hurt countless regular Americans in many ways, and accomplished nothing good but assuaging the circus ego of Tea Party types. 🙁

and yet when the govt was shut down in the past by say Tip O'Neil dems/libs didn't say boo.

The prez made it very clear he isn't willing to compromise in the least, at any time, or any place with the Republicans, so a more radical arm of the party took advantage of one of the few situations they could in an attempt to gain some leverage, and unfortunately the rest of the party didn't come together and form a strategy and instead we had more of this fractured approach with the hard line vs. the old guard.

To answer your question above (which wasn't directed at me but I will humor it anyway) I have absolutely no issues Cruz having done what he did and govt shutting down, the govt employees are getting back pay, sucks for those who are contractors. Things move on, and at least for me and those I know there was really no impact whatsoever...just like sequester for most beyond the media headlines it was big meh.

As for the loss of other monies, we flush so much away on entitlement programs and just the wastefulness of govt I find it rather funny you libs are getting bent over a paltry sum when compared to the larger picture.

What I am more upset with is the lengths the left went to bar people from national parks and other political stunts to make their point, the amount of effort, energy, and money put towards such shenanigans is ridiculous...but not surprising as they are the party of blame everyone else.

If I were the President and Democrats I would not "negotiate", and I am a Republican. Stupid Tea Party extreme right wingers keep talking about Obama not negotiating. Guess what if I got you by your balls, I wouldnt negotiate one bit. When you got the support of executive and judicial branch, the Senate, and you know there is enough votes to go through the House. Its a blow out. Ted Cruz and idiots should be ashamed.

I am not saying I would negotiate either, heck they had them by the balls and that was shown with the outcome of their effort being a waste of time.

Nor am I saying if I were a Repub up there I would have done or advocated the same tactic, personally I would just not vote on anything, let the Dems get their way for the duration of the big O's reign, and let the chips fall where they may....either people will either love it and you come off looking at worst like you didn't do anything, or they will pay the price with all of the added fees and social justice that the Dems/libs love to implement and you can pull a lib/dem move and blame the other party.

As for Obamacare, I see it as is a tax on the young and the middle class and the problem for repubs is that the main dem voting block don't fall into the demographic of those who will actually bear the brunt of the cost of it but rather those who will benefit the most of it (getting my Mitt Romney on with that one) so they are kinda screwed....the best they can do is hope that enough people get pummeled by the costs to get worked up and push for change...but if that doesn't happen I don't see them being too successful going forward as the number of peeps in urban areas counting on handouts is always on the rise.

The TEA party is a threat to the socialist way of life. When the first groups came on the scene they were immediately labeled hicks and racists by the left.

Then there was Sarah Palin. I could never understand why the left was so worried about A buffoon like her...but my goodness... there were threads made every hour about her armpit hair showing or some other stupid shit like that.

So you do not have to say anything specifically. I judge a conservative opponent's popularity by the number of attack threads created in P&N.

Nowhere in my OP do I even remotely suggest Ted Cruz will likely have a major impact during the next presidential election, but nevertheless you know I said exactly that . . . because . . . Wait, you're not upset with actions that actually cost billions and had significant impact on the lives of many average Americans? From the govt worker who was paycheck to paycheck and had to struggle to get by, to the many businesses across the country dependent on tourism to national sites and have lost weeks of the remaining season while already razor thin, to the myriad impacts to businesses from everything from delayed visas or delayed loans. The tea party gets a free pass for needlessly impacting the lives of many Americans for absolutely no result?

Again how many times has the govt been shut down in the past and where was all of the uproar back then about lost monies..if anything it is more of a disgrace that closing down government cost us that much for a couple of weeks
 
Can the OP tell us what Ted Cruz did exactly?

All this fuss started in the House by not funding Obamacare. Only consequential things the Senate did was block the budget and pass Continuing Resolutions.

Did Cruz delay the final vote? No. He acted with honor when time was up. Can the OP face the facts, that the Senator didn't do much of anything? Yes he'd like to, but that doesn't change the fact that you're blaming a Senator for the actions of the House.

Your partisan dogs in the media throw you some red meat with Cruz's name on it and you pounce, even if the facts show you to be baseless.
