[TechReport] Gemini (Dual Fiji) delayed to Q2 2016

Game developers working on Oculus ready games have all stated that AMD has the best VR implementation. This is why Oculus has partnered with AMD to provide the GPU for their headset. This GPU will be released to coincide with the Oculus Rift release.

Could you please document all these developers and their companies stating that?

Everyone was also in with Mantle and NVidia was practically dead.

Problem is these assumptions tend to lack reality.

It's common knowledge that LiquidVR is the king right now. Nvidia doesn't have fine grained preemption, which means Nvidia's latency is much higher than AMD's LiquidVR solution.

I guess you are also not aware that LiquidVR is built off of Mantle.

I already heard plenty of stories from the warm countries. DX12 would also kill NVidia due to Async and so on. there is never a limitation to what the next AMD feature cant do and how it will change the landscape against NVidia completely.

But how about we get something on the table? Because we all know how the previous assumptions went.

I can't be sold that late. It just can't be. It would have to come out right before all the new stuff.

Or maybe the new stuff will come way later than we all think/wish. Like maybe even around next Christmas. If they were meant release next gen in April - now talking about Nvidia, who havent launched their dual Maxwell yet neither - one would expect them to be in more hurry to release this.

Sure, VR discussion is totally the same as the A-Sync compute discussion 🙄 .You must have missed the thread where VR tech from both companies was compared. No reason to get you up to speed on this thread.

Yeah I wonder what the deal is with the dual GPU cards. AMD is taking forever and Nvidia hasn't said a word. Normally the dual GPU cards represent the "final lap" flag to let us know we have entered the last round of the current gen. If that's still the case then new cards are 2017 products, but we know that can't be true.

I'm thinking 14/16nm cards from AMD and NV won't show up until late Q3/Q4 at this point.

I will get a lot of gaming goodness from my SLI'd 980 Tis in the meantime 🙂

No doubt. I'll be getting some of my money's worth tonight as a matter of fact. The goal is to have a good gaming experience by ruining the experience of others by making them rage quit. Can't put a price on that. Make two noobs rage at once in alternate rage mode for SLI bonus.

Fury cards are marketed as VR cards. As much as I would like a successor to my 295x2, I would much rather have more VRAM on a new process node. So, I'll probably skip this one.
