Hmm...quick check on e-gay...almost all the auctions are overseas....why aren't these selling in the US?

Compatible?

I prefer Adaptec, but hey...$90 is nice if you can use it.

I own one just like this and it is great. Supports 50pin, 68pin, and 68pin LVD. This card is bootable but if you have an all SCSI system the regular Win98 boot disk will not see card or your CDrom. You will have to add the driver for it and modify the boot disk or just plug up an IDE drive to install Winblows. Also Win98 has drivers for this card but it installs it as a Syslogic I think but it works fine.

Bump for a great card at a great price.

I purchased the 390U2W from Microstandard and received it as advertised (ie retail box). Great price for a decent controller. The only negative thing I have to say is that I did not recieve and email confirmation or communication after ordering and I had to call them to get a tracking number. But it did arrive in around 3 days during xmas season (I live on the west coast) so my complaint is a minor quibble.

The Tekram is a good controller. I've been using this model for over a year with no problems... Also, if you go into the autoexec.bat and config.sys on the floppy boot disk and write a line to install the tekram drivers, you can access your scsi cd drive and load windows without a hitch.

Best,

John

Spellbound,

Was the controller retail boxed and come with all the cables/accessories? If it was factory boxed, ships with Internal Ultra2, Ultra-Wide and SCSI-2 cables, as well as an Ultra2 Terminator and an Internal-to-External SCSI-2 adapter bracket.

If that's the case then this is an excellent deal.

Mine did inclue 50pin, 68pin, and 68pin LVD cables and terminator but the LVD cable is cheap. Ok if you just plug it in and leave it but if you move it around alot (switch drives, change MB, ect.) the plastic coating starts pealing off. On the plus side this makes it easy to "Round" the cable as I am about to do to mine!

I ordered one from these folks about a month ago and was very pleased,
retail boxed with a bunch of goodies
However I have about 400 in the scsi machine, IBM LVE & Tekram: and maxtor ata 100 (100$)
with soyo IV, the maxtor beats out the scsi slightly in sisoft, sad:
I am a rookie at scsi, so lack of knowledge could be the problem.
