To whom it may concern,

This is a solicitation for a research project titled “Technological Expertise.”

The purpose of this research is to develop a scale is to identify variation across individuals on their expertise with various technology. In addition, we want to classify individuals into ranges of expertise such as novice, experienced, expert. Furthermore, using these ranges we want to predict performance in various hypothetical situations with technology.

If you agree to be in this research, you will be asked to complete a survey on a series of questions using a 1-5 scale. In addition, you will be asked to clarify your answers to these questions. Next, you will be given hypothetical scenarios with technology and asked to provide your answer. Lastly, you will be asked if you would want to have a follow-up interview at later time about your answers and the survey.

You will need to be 18 years or older to participate.

Your participation will take 30-60mins to complete, for this initial survey. The additional interview at the end of the survey will be scheduled for a later time and date and should take no longer than 30mins.

There is no compensation for this participation. You will however, be helping with a graduate students’ dissertation research.
