So I'm going to be using a couple different computers on seperate internet connections, but I'm curious if anyone knows of any better ways of doing it. How do ticket scalpers beat the system?

FYI: Tool tickets on sale at 10AM

I believe most scalpers actually sit around at the physical sale sites, oh yeah, and they tip big.

Just wait at ticket time and auto refresh. You can usually score floor tickets if you connect within the first 3 minutes

Just remember to complete the purchase in 5 minutes or else you'll be thrown out of the system!

I recall that during a contest logitech was having, where you could refresh as often as you like to see if you won, several people here (including myself) simply wrote our own little webpage which had 16 or 20 or 24 or however many frames you could comfortably view on your own monitor. Simply hitting F5 refreshed all 20 frames; thus it was like having 20 computers simultaneously attempting to connect. (fwiw, I won a cordless keyboard in that contest after about 40 minutes of hitting F5)

Simply doing something like that might give you a bit more of a chance...

ticketmaster will block you i believe if you refresh the page too often, and you do not get in line to purchase actual tickets until you enter the # of tickets you want, and then on the next page, enter their authentication code

Is there a way you can offer them a little more money to ensure you get some?

It sounds like you want the tickets just a little bit more than the other people who are going to leave it up to chance...

I don't have a technique for buying them from ticket master, but on a few occasions I have waited until the day (or two days) before the concert and checked all of the online ticket places and sent emails off to everyone with tickets left to sell that I would give them face value + overnight shipping costs (usually just around 15 or 20 dollars) and have not had a problem getting really good seats this way.

Yeah..I was up with my friend at 10AM trying to get tool tickets. They sold out before I could even get one..and i clicked as fast and possible. They sold out in under a minute...Tower Thearte is such a small venue..

I am going to try the thing where they release tickets a few days early of the day of..how often does this would do you think guys? At the Sigur Ros concert in AC i got FRONT row seats when i get there cause they had saved some.

I read somewhere once, that if you call ticketmaster like 5-10 minutes before they go on sale, and hold the CSR's attention until the tickets go on sale, you have a pretty good shot at getting tixs. i haven't tried this method, so i don't know if its gonna work.

If the band has one, join their fanclub if they offer fan club members the ability to purchase tickets earlier.

Going to the physical box office and camping out works too - although sometimes they do a lottery to decide who gets to buy tickets, so that can backfire.

Edit: Holy crap, I should have camped out for Tool tickets. $66 each face value, they're going for $150 each on eBay right now. Guess I'm not seeing them on this tour.

I know there are a few ATOTers with those fancy AMEX centurion cards.

If you ask them nicely, they may be able to hook you up. :)

what do those do?

I need all the help I can get..

The tool tickets probably had a presale for the club...but their club costs to be in.

There was no fan presale.
I was trying for tickets to the Philly show.

I seriously messed up the ticketing process. Between my friends and me, we needed four tickets. My friend clicked well and got center loge tickets. I clicked well too, and was offered lower balcony seats. I then stupidly tried to get tickets on my other computer. I waited too long and lost the balcony seats. By the time I noticed I lost them, it was definitely 10:03.

This puts my friends and me in a pretty tricky dilemna -- there are two tickets between four people and the tickets we have are worth more than five hundred dollars.

I think I'm going to end up buying scalped tickets. Let me know if you have tickets that are only unreasonably priced instead of obscenely priced. I can also throw in my complete collection of Tool bootlegs (20 shows, mostly audio) to sweeten the deal.
