Supper's Ready (Nov 20 2007)

The recovery from yesterday's outage (see my previous post) ended up going faster than expected. During the evening I turned the assimilators/splitters back on before we ran out of work or clogged the pipelines too much. Today we had the usual database backup/compression outage. Usual drill - no news there. We're back on line and catching up. Other than that, lots of minor hardware/software cleanup - basically getting ready for the long weekend (for those outside the U.S. I'm referring to Thanksgiving, i.e. an excessively large meal centered around turkey on Thursday, followed by three days of shopping, watching football, and digesting).

I forgot to bring in a camera to take pictures of the cleaned-up closet. Maybe tomorrow (if I don't have jury duty - cross your fingers). I don't have a cell phone either, much less one with a camera in it. Not that there's much to see that's new - but it's good to post some pictures once in a while.

- Matt

Appart for Anandtech's stats, it shows how much more/less than Anandtech.
Also shows based on Average Work Done how many days for Anandtech to overtake the team, or be overtaken by a team behind

From looking at the peeps who joined up just for the race, I don't think that we'll lose much over 30k/day. a very large portion of the increased output was from everybody scrounging up extra computers and/or using the optimized clients from lunatics.at and/or crunch3r. dajeepster all by himself is around 10k and it looks like he's building another 1-2 systems, too. I'm upgrading my e6750 in jan to a quad, so I'll be up 2k/day give or take then (assuming I get 3.4 on that one, too). It's possible that we'll even end up close to 200k consistently.

Thanks for the stats, Rattledagger! This looks awesome! 😀

Somewhat OT and a medium rant ---
I hope that we do not loose more than 30 K - although I think we will. 🙁
I have decreased my seti-production greatly (gone back to CPDN, MalariaControl, WCG and Einstein <--- with only a few cores), OTOH I still have approx. 15 000 credits pending and I guestimate that I'll put out some 700 - 1000 credits/day. I know that quite a few TAS-members will be doing Folding@home in December (a race, you know 😉 )but we need a boost there too.
The race has been a lot of fun - and a good benchmark on my total production. Considering that I did a similar thing some 20 months ago, and then reached approx 5300 credits/day the increase to approx 8 500/day is good to see - especially when thinking that the investment was less than 1000 US$ in that period of time.
