TechNet Windows 7 current download - full version or RTM?

And it says "TechNet Plus subscribers: take advantage of early access to Windows 7"

On the downloads page, the Windows versions don't have "RTM" attached, but are rather listed like this:

"Windows 7 Professional (x64) - DVD (English)"

Can anyone verify that these are the full versions and not the "unfinal" ones that will get disabled/can't be upgraded?

edit - nevermind, RTM = ready to manufacture, it's the full version. I'm on crack.

Yeah - it's the full version - build 7600. I have it installed and love it.

BTW - this would be better placed on the OS forum - definitely not hardware. 🙂

Yea, you can move it. I just needed a quick response as we decided to pull the trigger this morning. In general though, are all TechNet licenses 100% full usage as long as you keep renewing your subscription? Seems like $250/year is change for access to Server 2008 R2... unless there's something hidden I'm not seeing (this is my first experience with TechNet).

You don't need to renew your subscription to continue using the software. You just can't redownload or regenerate any keys if your subscription has expired. Also, if new software comes along that you want, you'll need to resubscribe before you can download it or get a key for it.

RTM is full version, release candidate is something else. Technet is for evaluation only (msdn is development work only) but for home use, it is unlikely that anyone would bother you, (now if you paid for 1 technet license and installed windows/office on a bunch of machines at a small business, along with server + exchange..., that might be asking for trouble).

Each version has it's own install disc.
But the "Ultimate" disc can be changed to an "All in One" disc.
Delete: ei.cfg, using an ISO editor such as UltraISO.
Burn disc.
On setup, you're then offered a choice of which of 4 versions to install.
(It's still: separate discs for 32 vs. 64 bit).

Took the words right out of my mouth. Basically common sense goes a long way in this regard.

If you are able to obtain a Windows 7 RTM key, will it expire next year like with the RC keys? Or is it considered a retail copy?

no. it's considered a "retail" copy for all intents and purposes for home use.
