TechNet Licenses & Expiration?

When a TechNet subscription expires, do the licenses become invalid? Specifically:

1) Can a license be issued post-expiration or is it now invalid?
2) Will an existing license become deactivated post-expiration?

Your licenses do not become invalid if installed prior to expiration.

How about in this scenario:

I d/l'd the win7 software and created a key.... After expiration of my subscription I decide to upgrade the computer and reinstall win7. Will the key from my old subscription still activate the software?

that is a long time for software evaluation. if you need to development platform msdn may be a better match or *spark.
