Techindustry corporate hitlist

companies that need to die imo

1. Rambus, for their business practics and continue hurting of other memory companies with their army of lawyers
2. Microsoft, single handly destroyed alot of innovation in the software business. Unix/Linux may change this in a few years.
3. Intel, while being innovative at first, they are no longer innovative. they have massive amounts of tech that they refuse to release. i know you say HT/.13 micron, but intel has had prescott working for a long time. they are just 1 uping amd everytime amd releases a part. i hate to think of a world without amd and intel rules us. but i fear that it is coming
4. EA, they were once the best, but they have fallen and to me it is better to have many small developers rather than one big one. IE ea may concentrate more resources on one paticular genre instead of that of another.

companies that dont need to die
1. ATI or Nvidia. they need to remain like they are, in heated battle
2. AMD, see number 3 above

The ideal market is that of the video card market. two great companies constantly trying to one up the other, creating better technology very fast, while droping prices on the previous generation.

btw, i would like to see what some of your hitlists for tech companies

Dell - theyre too freaking big and 'mainstream'. I just have never really liked them, and when I found some of their base system configurations have only 128mb of RAM the other day (in servers even!) I shat myself...

I agree with the analysis of the video card industry tho..its going great right now.

<---puts on suntan lotion, fires up the fans, puts popcorn in the microwave, and settles into a comfy chair with hot coffee

<--- thinking this ought to be good😉

To die list:
1. 3dfx
2. Aureal
3. Packard Bell

hehe, well it looks like all mine have been taken out......j/k they were all decent product makers.

Competition is good for the end user...i hope they all stay around and keep competing for my money

Rambus and SCO need to die... now. :disgust:

Intel needs to stay around and provide competition to AMD. Microsoft is too freaking big, and they need to be reined in, but the government refuses to do that. However, if it were a matter of Microsoft making software digital signatures mandatory through legally required hardware, and therefore killing Linux and all other open-source software, I'd rather see Microsoft die than Linux and/or UNIX.

I don't know about EA (don't even know what they are - that shows how much I keep up on the gaming software front), and Dell needs to stay around, if only so we can tell the computer idiots, "dude, you're gettin' a dell." 😉

More like, the government really can't do anything. What exactly would they be able to do? They can't shut down Microsoft, as that would leave most of the world's PC's stranded with...well, even less support than they presently have for their MS software. Splitting Microsoft up could be very difficult too; the separate companies would still likely remain in VERY close communication, and function as one anyway. Maybe the government could give subsidies to Linux companies?😛
