Tech support question - PS3 controller stopping wireless

I've been playing Burnout Paradise, and the controller battery ran out so I plugged it in.

After than, when I unplug the controller, it says there's no controller connected, though it was working fine earlier and is now charged. Plug it back in, works fine.

When it's unplugged, no button has any effect and all four LED's flash.

I can try some things like switching the gam and power cycling the PS3, but is anyone familiar with this and why it happens and how to prevent it?

Did you leave it plugged in for a couple of hours to charge? With it plugged in and working what does the battery level show as when you press the PS button?

When that happens, try pressing the PS button on the controller.

The blue-tooth board is going bad. Back in October, I started losing sync with the PS3 even with a fully charged controller; I couldn't connect with a controller or even the movie-remote until I re-started the system. It became more and more frequent to the point where it stopped working period in early February. I was out of warranty, so bought a new board on e-bay for $15, and it fixed the problem. It would have cost $150 for the same repair through Sony.
