Tech savvy women are treated like 'idiots' when it comes to selling gadgets!

'No respect'

Research commissioned by the CES organisers looked at how women were treated when they went shopping for gadgets.

It found that most of all, women were irritated by unhelpful and pushy salespersons.

Many simply felt dumb, even though they considered themselves smart women.

"Our female customers feel a big lack of r-e-s-p-e-c-t," admitted Dave Williams, Vice President of Research & Analysis at the electronics chain Best Buy.

"They are ignored, confused by pushy salesman. If she's disrespected, it all goes down the toilet."

The study showed that almost half of women go shopping with a man as they believed they were better treated if they had a male companion.

I have seen it happen myself. I would help someone go over the tech details, like for a camera example and explain all the terminology. The female friend would then go shopping and come back to me saying so and so at Electronic expo talked down to her and said she was misinformed.

It's probably from encountering geeky guys who feel power rushes over women they normally cower from contact with.

That's unfortunate...I try to treat all my customers the same way. It's a good idea, since the men usually don't know a damn thing either. 🙂

Perhaps it's because it's a well-established fact that women are not as techno-savvy as men, on average? No no, we can't have any disparity between the sexes in the real world
