I consider myself a tech geek (posting from a Powerbook here). And one of my better friends is a compsci major who's forgotten more about computers and technology than I'll ever know- he's got an iBook and an Intel iMac.

So there.

Tech Geeks are allowed to have toys. Macs are toys.
I used to have an old powerbook that I got for under $200. 166mhz, 2gb drive, 24mb of ram .... ran yellowdog linux, made a nice VCD player as well as text based web surfer and very good IRC box ...

The operating system a person uses does not make them a geek....their proficiency at using hardware and software as well as their instinctive desire to work with all things tech makes them so.
