Team Sound and XP codecs?

According to http://www.teamsound.com site forum MS neglected to include certain audio codecs (formerly included in Win2000 and NT) in XP. These were used for Netmeeting and are required by Teamsound.

I cannot connect to other players Teamsound server - receiving instead "You have been disconnected. The audio compression selected by the TEam Sound server is not installed on your computer or the audio compression features of Windows have been disabled on your computer..." and goes on to explain how to dl codecs from MS but MS only offers this for earlier os's than XP (apparently).

How do I confirm audio compression is enabled on my comp? (I have looked under volume control, as well as in Device Mgr/properties for various components. Also in Winmedia player.) ????

I've run the netmeeting audio config wizard. (It's 'hidden' you know.)
Tried XP firewall off.
Roger Wilco works ok (similar but unrelated program)
Installed latest drivers for sound.
Browsed XP Cd-rom, re-installed accessories (presumable this included multimedia sound).

Other people are using XP and Team sound - just can't figure out what's missing on my system.

Anyone have any other ideas?????

My sys: Asus P4s533 mobo, P4 1.6a overclocked to 2.1Ghz, on board sound, XP Home...

steve, I was able to get Teamsound working in XP, but I thought it was horrible compared to MS Gamevoice share, which is free...give that a try..

Neo I wish I could but the leader of our squad wants Teamsound...

How did you get TS working??????

Actually I did manage to install the high compression codec by installing Teamspeak and it works but you're right it sounds terrible.

Any idea how/where i might find the medium compression codec??????

I have XP Home btw.
