If you don't currently have an SSD in your PC, what are you waiting for???

Entry-level drives like these make it easy to "take the plunge" to go to SSD.

If anyone knows what controller these use, please post. Though I think it's likely to be Phison, or SMI.

Edit: It's an SMI controller. Which one isn't specified. Guessing it could be the DRAM-less one? It's Sync MLC NAND.

Seq. Read: 530MB/sec,
Seq. Write: 150MB/sec.

If I am able to disassemble (and I don't see why I shouldn't be able to), I will post pics up of the PCB to see what we are dealing with here.

If that's cool with you, that would be awesome. Post 'em to your forums, too.

I believe it's using the Silicon Motion SM2246EN controller based on several European sites selling the same drive.

Yep, that is the controller on the ultra L5 I received today.

I'll post pictures later on tonight.

NAND is SK hynix H27QFGBDYEBOR BCB 536A M12KASW4Q (last group of letters and numbers written in very small script)

So I got the pictures taken, but my computers are not recognizing the camera.....so I can't import the images.

In any event, the PCB used is a short blue one. The SM2246EN controller and Samsung DRAM on one side and two SK Hynix chips on the other side.

For $40, this is the best hardware spec for 120/128GB I have seen thus far.

How reliable is it and how many write cycles can the nand in this thing take ?
