Team dynamics in an individual sport.

I am part of my high school's swim team. We are more united as a team than most of the "team sports" at the school. The team sports are very close, but we are ten times closer. It's kinda funny, actually. But anyways, the team dynamics this year are just sketchy. A bunch of incredibly attractive freshmen girls are on the team, and that screwed up everything from last year. Most of the guys, admittedly myself included, find the need to hit on them and try to impress them. The team (girls and guys together, we practice together, have meets together, etc) is really close this year. We have a ton of team gatherings, but half the time it's just about who can hit on the most girls. It's annoying as sh!t. One of the captains is ALWAYS all over one of the freshmen, and the other guy's captain.. well he's not innocent either. Last year we barely lost the championship, and this year it just seems like we are WAY TOO EXCITED about swimming and the team, so we're always together. Essentially, our social lives are based around the team, since we're always together. It's like a little cult, and that is both positive and negative. Is there much to do?

Thoughts?

I just sort of wanted to vent and get that out, as well.
