First off... ViRGE is right. The winning logo had a reg dispute. But, I know there is some stuff going on in the background. But it's perty scetchy right now. It will happen. It's just a matter of when......

Folks ,Its not sketchy anymore. I have the go ahead authorization from Anand to proceed with a "Gear Store" .The logo has been choosen. It is the copyrighted logo of AnandTech. I have modified it a bit to reflect "Team AnandTech Distributed Computing" and soon as the art work is finished ,I will send it to Narzy to put on the Store front Banner.
I also have labeled generic AnandTech logo gear for those who may not be in the distributed forum. Anand is quoite pleased with the quaility of the merchandise,Virge has one of the shirts and I believe he can testify to its quality. I will try to provide nothing less than the standard he can atterst to.

There will be a wide variety of gear. I am going to screenprint alot of the dry goods such as case badges,mousepads, liscense plates.beverage mugs. The polo shirts and hats and most clothing will be embroidered. (It really looks nice folks)

I hope you will support us in this endeavor. I and Narzy and Anand have been working on this since The first PM I got of support and encouragement from Virge. There will be more details as we get closer. You may ask me anything you like now and I will do my best to keep you appraised of the developments as we go.

But:

Hey guys, (bit late to be of help), I may have a source for that "planet" clip art. Microsoft Clip Gallery 4.0 which came with my Publisher 98 has a clip under the "Maps" section that looks (from memory) just like it.

I'm having trouble getting it to insert the thing into a document (always had heaps of trouble with the program so never really used it) but someone else may be able to get a copy off.

I haven't got a copy of the disputed logo to compare it with the clip, but this might be the source! Doesn't matter much of course now, but it would be good to clear up the mystery for once and for all.

It won't be too long now. I work with another member here who is my web head and he is hard at work putting the store together. I am getting the merchandise together now. We will have a link from the main page to the store and a shopping cart will be waiting for you there. I will have photos of the merchandise with a description and ordering parameters.. I will try and have a little of everything ready for immediate shipping,however,nothing will be shipped until the transactions clear the bank.I will try to set up a Pay Pal account for those that use that method and visa /mastercard. we can take money orders as well,as long as they make it through the bank, Travelers checks work good too. I have had off shore inquries as well,and yes,we will ship overseas. The shipping costs will be born out by the recipient in all instances.

I'm looking forward to your visit when we have the grand opening. We will keep you posted.

Can you find the copyright information and either read it or post it here to determine whether it would be legal to use the globe for our logo. As someone posted before, even if the logo is included in a clipart package, that doesn't mean that we can use it for our logo.

That would be great news! If you have the globe logo,please get it to me ASAP. I would prefer a distinct logo that the membership voted on here for this forum,which is the bonifide source of this entire project.Without a way to refute the allegation that ERSI has copyright protection on the globe,it is in our interest to move ahead with the approved logo that Anand himself has allowed me to use. I am making the majority of the merchandise up for AnandTech,IE: all forums. The DC forum is unique. I will still support its "uniqueness" any way I can legally do so. I have very strong feelings about the members of this forum and commend the unselfishness exhibited here as apposed to what goes on in other forums,where things can become quite contentious at times.

Please find that logo.We will let you know if it is the right one. I will reward you if it is what we are looking for,promise. Good luck

Damn it, I can't seem to paste it to a file!

I took a hard drive out of this machine a couple of days back and that's causing one problem.

"Clip gallery cannot find the previews file E:\Clipart\MMedia\mmedia.cag"

The other is that I'm guessing that I didn't upload the clipart when I did the original install. I think that Office puts a clip art gallery together from that packaged with each program (Publisher, Powerpoint etc). I'll have to figure out how to get it loaded from the CD.

Somebody else must have this file! Its simple to find: Open publisher or word, insert picture, select clip art, "maps" and scroll to the bottom of the section.

Could somebody link me to the TA logo - at least that way I can see if it is the same one or if it's just my old grey matter conking out!

Sheesh it's close, but it's not the same one. I just brought up the list in Publisher 2000 and it's still there. I'll send it along to Virge (thanks for the link) and you'll see what I mean.
