Well, TA's dominence of OGR continues, as /., and everyone else was once again incapible of knocking us out of first place.:) For the day, we did 181Tnodes, 33Tnodes more than /., and 154Tnodes more than the DPCs. Unfortunately, there's no OGR news, but there is an observation. For the time being, it looks like /. will be our main competitor, as it looks like they're sending all their power there. On the flip side, the DPCs look like they could care less, so they're going strong in RC5, which puts us in a 2 front war.:( So, lets not give either team an advantage, and assimilate more machines for both contests! Everyone get out there tomorrow and assimilate all the machines you can, because TA will dominate Dnet!:D

we are really kicking butt in OGR (even though most of us are doing it and dont want to) within a few months we will have first place in both and will be impossible to catch.

"within a few months"

Is OGR-24 gonna even last that long? A little while ago dnet stated that all the stubs had ALREADY been allocated, and that ballpark, about 20% of the work had already been done.

well considering we are already in first in OGR, i was reffering to when we move to first in RC5, i have no idea how long OGR is gonna take, but RC5 just hit 1000 days, and they are only 28% done (even though probablility states that you will most likely find the key at the 50% mark)

I'm surprised more people from the lower ranks like myself aren't more interested in OGR. While I've done RC/5 for almost the entire length of the contest, my ranking withing Team Anandtech was low- I just can't compete with the big crackers with my own resources. Therefore, OGR is very attractive for me, as I can easily place in the top 100 OGR crackers for the team every day as it stands now. From a stats person's viewpoint, that's pretty cool, especially on a project that feels like it's really moving.

Perhaps OGR could serve as a means of recruiting some of those who have not yet joined, as it serves an actual purpose with quantifiable results.

I agree on the stats thing. I have a pretty small herd, and I can place relatively high in the team standings each day... it's kinda nice.

Also, I _may_ be able to put the client on some of the developer machines around me at work (if I can convince my co-workers, my manager, and the network guys) with OGR. Since there's no prize for OGR, there's no way putting the client on could possibly be construed as trying to make money off of a company.

And being a consultant, I _really_ have to be sure not to piss people off at the client :)

I'm doing OGR almost exclusively (have a few of my fastest chewing through what I had stocked for RC5 on my pproxy) precisely because it does something. Whether or not anything will result of the work is another question, but at least the information will be available.
