Er... I'm on Frame 130 out of 400. This after about 14 or 15 hours... Is that right? I haven't completed a single unit then...

When you set it up did you use the -forceasm -advmethods -local flags? Those usually get you the faster crunching Gromacs WUs, but the first couple are usually the slower Tinker ones. Don't worry about it, it's alright.

Are you using the command line version or GUI? If you're using the CLI, are you using FireDaemon?

Done. Now it's sitting here saying 0 out of 250,000 steps.... Using 50% CPU power, system seems to be maxed... but it's not doing anything.

This is probably why you guys aren't doing too well at this, it's too much trouble for people to quickly set up.

Protein? What exactly is my computer doing? This isn't some kind of sperm\porn related thing is it? I'm on protein p1006_ppg10_pfold. But one of those stupid command lines made me anonymous, so my points aren't under my name anymore!!!

ah, just use the GUI version. hehe.

I tried the CLI version, but when i followed the steps for setting it up as a service... it was running for a full month doing crap work apparently.,.. mainly because I just forgot about it since i never saw it :-/

Uh... what? You mean it was running for a month? Wow. That's the object. What do you mean by "crap work"? You can't control the type of work it does, so what does that matter?

Feel free to use the GUI, there is very little speed difference if you keep the graphics minimized.

The -forceasm (-forceSSE for athlons) and -advmethods flags can be used on the GUI.

There is an installer for the GUI, no muss, no fuss.

something got corrupted. no work units had been reported for an entire month. I have no idea what had happened... hence why i just use the gui and check back every so often. This happened nearly a year ago.

didn't know about those flags......

I've completed my first work unit apparently, last night. Now it's doing something different...

It used to be doing this:

[12:12:22] Finished a frame (398)
[12:19:51] Finished a frame (399)
[12:27:19] Finished a frame (400)

Then it said something about checking for an updated core and not finding it (FahCore_78.exe)

So it downloaded the new core and then started crunching a WU again... I think...

Now it looks like this:

[18:23:42] Writing local files
[18:23:44] Completed 250000 out of 500000 steps (50)
[18:31:16] Writing local files
[18:31:18] Completed 255000 out of 500000 steps (51)

WTF is this!?

don't worry, you have a gromacs core.....which has SSE optimizations and generates more points :)

yea, don't worry, there are currently 3 cores, fahcore_65, fahcore_ca(gromacs, but since the project has been stopped i don't thinkyou will receive it), and fahcore_78....
fahcore_79 should be coming soon and will include SSE2 optimizations :)
