TeAm AnandTech invites you to join us and use your computer's otherwise idle CPU cycles to further research projects in many fields. :)

What do you give? Nothing! Distributed computing projects don't interfere with your work or even slow down your computer. They run in the background to harness the spare clock cycles your computer is already spending while running your programs.

What do you get? The sky is NOT the limit; it's just the beginning! TeAm AnandTech is engaged in Distributed Computing projects ranging from seeking the causes and cures for diseases to studying phenomena in the vastness of the universe.

TeAm AnandTech is a very close knit group of people... from all backgrounds and societies... all working and playing together on various DC projects. We believe our Distributed Computing forum is among the most friendly and helpful places on the AnandTech forums. Add that to the great team spirit, and you've got a winning combination!

But wait! There's more! When you join the TeAm, you'll feel great because you and your computer will be contributing to worthwhile causes, and you will become a part of a truly great "Family."

You'll find info on our various projects in the Distributed Computing welcome thread and the Comprehensive BOINC project list. Most projects are very easy to set up and run, don't need a permanent internet-connection while running and don't require 24 hour/day operation (but once addicted, you may just do that). They have almost no effect on your machine's everyday operations. If you have a question, please jump over to the Distributed Computing Forum and ask ... Or just say hello. You'll be glad you did, and we will, too! :)

Many of the other teams in the world have grown, while we've slowed down, but YOU can help change the trend. All of our teams really need more teammates, and some TeAm Anandtech projects need crunchers more than in others:

DPAD - The race is on, but TeAm AnandTech has fallen from 2nd rank to third, and we need more members in the team and turn things around! Please look here: DPAD Distributed Particle Accelerator Design: Here you can use your own PC's idle time to simulate and design parts of a particle accelerator. Please put the characters [TA] before your name, and you are in.

Folding@home - Several teams threaten TeAm AnandTechs position. Proteins are biology's workhorses - its "nanomachines." Before proteins can carry out these important functions, they fold themselves. The process of protein folding in many ways remains a mystery. When proteins do not fold correctly, there can be serious consequences including many well known diseases (e.g. Alzheimers, Cancer, Huntington's disease, Parkinson's disease). Please join the TeAm #198!

Rosetta@home - One of the main projects for the TeAm. Some TeAm members have been inspired to crunch this project to help a small girl to fight cancer and to do something - not only for her - but also for humanity. Rosetta@home needs your help to determine the 3-dimensional shapes of proteins in research that may ultimately lead to finding cures for some major human diseases. Here is the Rosetta@home TeAm-page!

SETI@home - One of the main projects for TeAm Anandtech! The TeAm is in 18th place, but 4 teams are a threat. Production has been falling over the past months as crunchers have moved to other projects. Some other teams are catching up! Please look here: SETI@home Search for ExtraTerrestial Intelligence, the project which started it all. The TeAm-page @ SETI@home is here.

Please join us! If you have any questions, comments or want to say hello, please post in the Recruitment thread @ Distributed Computing!
