(Or making negative connotations with certain political ideals and positives for another, NOT her place)

Basically agree... if I was a parent I'd rip her a new ass and make sure the principal understood as well. If I was the principal I'd put her on an improvement plan AND rip her a new ass. But she should not be fired based on what was on the video.

that teacher is over the line....

however, this happens all the time,

i remember in high school, our government teacher was a die hard republican, who end up running for Virginia house of delegate eventually.

he brain washed most of the students...(kirk cox is his name) we became young republicans...
which is pretty easy, considering we were all young and reagan was pretty popular.

when he left, our government teacher was replaced by Mrs. Bush (who's, ironically, is a democrat) and the students didn't like her much due cox's influence.

true story, i didn't change any names....

Yeah, that'll fix her

You can't fire people for going overboard with politics. That is a stupid. If we started firing everyone because they went overboard with politics, 75% of all workers in every industry would be on unemployment.

That bitch should be fired! If anyone try to indoctrinate my kid in school, I will go after that school until they fire that teacher.

Her reason for voting Obama is stupid. Some of her 'black' student saying they are voting for Obama because he's black. GOOD ANSWER!

In High School we had a history teacher who would "teach" us about the following:

Remember this is a class on U.S History

"America murdered millions needless in Japan during WW2"
"The A-Bomb did nothing but kill millions and had nothing to do with ending the War"
"America has committed genocide on a large scale during the Philippine-American War"
"During WW2 America was little better than Germany"

But I don't care about every industry, I just care about 2nd grade teachers brain washing my children.

Go help support that school and install RC5 on the computers.

Too soon? Sorry, I've been "brainwashed" and cannot control what my fingers type. ;)

This woman certainly deserves to be fired. I think the kicker was her comments towards the little girl. Trying to convince her that her daddy will be in Iraq for another 100 years is downright deplorable. Just imagine how she felt already about her dad being in a foreign country where thousands of men want him dead, and even more, would love to kill THEMSELVES just to see him dead. This is irresponsible use of opinion in an extreme manner. I hope they take her teacher's license away.

I think she should be fired..I completely agree with what she says, but you don't say that shit to kids...ever..that is fucking disgusting..i was a military kid...i know how i would have felt if someone would have suggested my dad would be in kuwait for 100 years (he was in gulf war)

she did sort of push the issue with the obama supporting child as well asking about what kind of changes, but she blew it big time with that remark..i cant believe she isnt incredibly ashamed of herself..saying that type of shit to a child that age accomplishes nothing good whatsoever..

Sweet Jeebus, I voted for Obama but that woman is an ignoramus! How she treated that young girl whose Dad was in the military was so far over the line I felt like punching her in her fat, complacently IGNORANT face.

How did someone with such a bovine level of complacent stupidity manage to graduate college and get certified?

That was beyond disgusting. :|

There is no place in grade school for expressing one's own political beliefs onto your students. Save that for outside of the classroom.

Interesting that every person in this thread says she was over the line, except dmcowen, who fully encourages this. There goes that elitist attitude that everyone talks about it. ;)

You're right, but this is a non-issue for a vast majority of jobs. Shit doesn't work when your teaching young children. Your 75% figure is delusional anyways.

Now that I think about it more, I don't think firing her should be in order either.

When I grew up, I had plenty of teachers imposing their opinions on students (mainly my AP history teacher who was a die-hard Republican), but not necessarily to this degree in the OP. What she did isn't necessarily new, but the degree is certainly frightening. Classy made a good point in that we can't fire people for going overboard with their politics in all cases and it surely sets a precedent that I don't think I would like to see.

I think a suspension is definitely in order along with other disciplinary actions and further training in how the fuck to be a teacher because she definitely skipped that part in her own schooling.
