thats totally subjective, some states the felony possesition amnt is like 35 grams, 35 grams is an eaith, so if you had say a 1/4 OZ it would be a felony, and a 1/4 is a personal use amnt,

hell back when i smoked more then i should have i would buy whole OZs for myself because its cheaper to buy in bulk, just like Sams Club
35 grams is over one ounce. 28.34... grams per oz.

Feel free to google for them, they are out there.

It's been much debated, but the official opinion about this is that (completely the opposite of drinking and driving) MJ drivers recognize that they are impaired and so they slow down and pay close attention to what they are doing, even more so that if they were sober.

Now I am by no means recommending that people smoke and drive (hell no!) but it is something to think about. Especially when you consider that the average sober driver seems to habitually have one hand on their cell phone and the other on a Big Mac...

On a side note, I'm not sure why anyone here trys to change anyone elses mind on here.
Thoes who understand why drug laws are ridiculous know. Thoes who don't understand, don't know and probably don't want to know.
Many people view drug use as black and white, which is why people like this teacher get cruxified.

Wow, crazy.

A lot of my friends seem to drive completely normal when high.. I'm terrible at it though--I've literally gotten lost in peoples driveways before, when all I had to do was turn my car around. But hey, it was dark and I have bad vision too..

My problem is the hypocrisy. I just can't stand watching poor people like this teacher get crucified by our legal system with the full (hell, zealous and enthuiastic) support of an otherwise apathetic populace that habitually stops at the bar for a couple drinks on their daily drive home from work.

The fsckin' evil hypocrisy of it all. Quite frankly, it just pisses me off. I think that maybe they deserve a few years getting pounded up the ass by Bubba for doing something that everyone else does.
You know how you can tell a sick totalitarian society? When the only real law is: don't get caught.

and he was not using them to role his own tobacco either.

GALVESTON, Texas (AP) - A high school teacher in Galveston faces marijuana possession charges after police say drug-sniffing dogs on campus led officers to his classroom desk.

Twenty-five-year-old Stakely McConnell is a Spanish teacher at Ball High School.

School police chief LeeRoy Amador says the drug dogs were doing a routine campus sweep Tuesday when they detected something in McConnell's desk.

No drugs were found inside the desk. Instead, the dogs smelled papers that had a marijuana odor -- an odor authorities say was transferred from McConnell's hands.

Amador said McConnell admitted to smoking pot over the weekend and that police later found a marijuana in his car.

School officials don't believe any students were involved in the alleged drug use.

McConnell is now on administrative leave. He faces one misdemeanor count of marijuana possession.

This happened in Texas? Sucks for the teacher...they'll probably hang him for that.

So I get to my locker and I find that it's still locked tight, but all the other lockers around mine are open and empty. Dodged a bullet on that one.

The moral of this story is: Never keep weed in your locker.

I don't want to sound like an elitist, but you don't have to be eminently qualified to be a high school teacher. I probably wouldn't want an air traffic controller or bomb technician to be a druggie, but as long as he's not letting it affect his job, or set a bad example for the kids, the teacher's OK.

Wait, papers, as in paperwork, as in 8.5 x 11" sheets of tests, outlines, schoolwork and so, are "drug related"? Everyone's assuming that the "papers" are tobacco paper, but from the article it sounds like plain ol' copy paper or something.

Exactly.

Plus, why would he have any joint papers that smelled like weed? I'm sure he smokes after he rolls, like everyone else :)

The article is talking about regular sheets of paper.

Another moral of the story: Make sure your locker has adequate venting in order to allow the aroma of the weed to flow into your neighbors locker.

looks like you are right. its regular paper.

McConnell admitted to smoking marijuana over the weekend, Amador said. The marijuana was transferred to the papers in McConnell's desk through perspiration on his hands, Amador said.

He gave police permission to search his car after two dogs alerted them to it, and police found a half cigarette of marijuana in the ashtray, Amador said. The chief said there was no evidence or suspicion that McConnell involved students in his alleged drug use.

so yeah it was regular paper. but my point still holds true since he had a mirijuana cig in his car.

i don't care if he does it. just bringing it to school is idiotic.

I totally agree with you. Though I've recently stopped getting so worked up when someone else doesn't understand. It's simply not worth the stress (which kills by the way) You can't drill it into their heads, you can't provide them with enough facts and you can't expect them to change their opinion immediately if ever.

Sure it's hypocritical but they will always fall back on the black and white viewpoint of the law. Of course they will always conveniently ignore the fact that laws are open for interpretation and created by representatives of the people.
