Teacher accuses you of cheating but you didn't

I have a class about American Music..

We only have 3 exams the whole semester..

The first exam I got a 75 (C) on. Rather dissapointed, but it was somewhat difficult.. about colonial and civil war era music.

The second test I was absent for and had to make it up in the library. It was about jazz and blues and stuff I pretty much already
knew before taking the class. I got a 100 on it. My professor asked to see me after class and asked if I cheated. No, I didn't cheat.
She said it was "too drastic" of an improvement and the next highest grade in the class was like a B. I was pretty pissed that I was accused of cheating,
but shrugged it off because she didn't have to let me make it up. She said if I got a good grade on my next exam, she'd be more confident that I didn't cheat.

So my next exam is tommorow. Its not going to be that easy. About musicals, American opera, and experimental music. Not my forte.
I'm sure I will do OK on it, and I'm not that worried about it, but I really doubt I will get a 100 again, and I wonder if I happen to do poorly on
it she will curve my grade down or something.

Anyways, basically it sucks to be accused of cheating when you didn't.

I remember bullsh!tting my way though an essay exam. I had no clue what any of the questions were about since I never went to class. Wrote page after page of pure bull.

I got the highest grade in the class :p

Being accused of cheating sux. Sorry.

I got accused of cheating because I had the highest grade on the national german test for second year students in my school and I had a D in the class. I didn't cheat but the teacher to this day believes I did. She also accused the girl next to me of cheating(the girl was so shy she NEVER even spoke to me all semester long). Whatever.

That sucks.

But the teacher really can't do anything unless she can prove it. Can't have just speculation.

Not true. It depends upon your school/University and the academic policies set forth in the student handbook.

If you really know your sh!t concerning jazz and blues, then explain yourself to her. That should get her to shut up.

The thing is.. she doesn't know her sh!t ..

We also had to do a couple biographies on influential American composers..

But they had to be approved by her..

I asked to do either Skip James or Charlie Patton .. she hadn't heard of either of them.

Yet, she let some kid do his on James Hetfield from Metallica.

Offer to do a second blues/jazz test that she makes up for comparison purposes. Describe your blues/jazz music collection. Describe how little you know colonial music. If you make the offer calmly and politely instead of angrily or defensively she might stop thinking you cheated.

It might be easier to do this in writing, but again in a polite and helpful manner not as a rant!

[ PS ] maybe even describe some of your favorite books / movies on blues & jazz if you have some.

Althogh those are good suggestions DaveSimmons, I don't think I'm going to press it.
I think she should know I have pretty good knowledge of jazz and blues ..
I did an awesome paper on Robert Johnson... and when she talked about one of
her "favorite" jazz composers Charles Mingus.. I brought up that he was very controversial
by fighting with the audience and his musicians at his performances.. (not sure if she appreciated that, actually ;))

Like I said.. I'm not worried about it.
MY conscious is clear, and if she thinks I cheated, that her problem. I don't have to prove myself.

the 2 CD "complete" RJ set has some amazing music on it, though I'm more of a Chess / Willie Dixon guy for blues. That and modern blues-rock people like Chris Whitley.

Makes sense not to press it, unless she does decide not to accept the second exam. Good luck on the last exam :)

Man I bet her idea of jazz is dixieland and Louis Armstrong. That's pretty typical with most people in this world.

Well I did think Louis Jordan was an effiminate French actor until I looked at the CD cover :)

What does some kid getting to do the report on James Hetfield have to do with anything? Are you saying that the teacher denied who you wanted to do?
