Teach RedRooster how to string wires

Having no forsight when I had my house built last year, I'm now trying to run one simple network cable in my house, from one end to the other. I just want to do a relatively clean job of it. I'll probably end up calling an electrician, but thought I'd try it first since there's no hurry.
So I've taken the face plate off my coax jack and wanting an easier way to string the wire downstairs I'm wondering if I can get the box in this picture removed as well?

I'm guessing it's not meant to move since I've taken out all the screws and it's not moving.

The box most likely has a bracket coming off the side of it allowing it to be attached to the face of the stud.

I've run 5 cables through my house- the router is on the first floor, so we drilled a hole through the floor and dropped the cables into the basement, then ran them up next to the ductwork. Didn't even bother with wall jacks. My cable is just poking out of the wall and stapled. This method could work for first-floor too.
