Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's not a 20x/16x/50x or whatever. But, nevertheless, it's a decent deal for those with oddball systems like Sun SPARCstation 10s with no CDROM drive. Or they don't have an extra internal bay.

Another shameless rip from dealnews.com

Go here first. Scroll down under storage. Read about the free shipping code to put in the comments box if you order.

Madlogix.com has the Teac CDRE55S 4x/12x CD-R SCSI external for $79.00. The shipping is NORMALLY $10.00, but......., well you know what I mean.

Description:

A Teac CDRE55S 4X write 12X read External SCSI CDR. This kit contains everything you need to get up and going. You get the external drive, an Adaptec 2904 PCI to SCSI host adapter, The Adaptec Easy CD Creator software, the interface and power cables, terminator resistor pack, installation guide and a blank CD.

I don't know if they are new, refurbed or what. But I needed one as my old 2x for my SS10 died. Don't know yet if it works with Linux but will soon find out.
