Hippes?

These weren't hippies. These were the boring kids who never had any fun. Now they're getting their fun by "protesting" against the "Magic Negro."

Really? You think when a lot of people were protesting the war in Iraq, the ignorant stayed at home? Of course they didn't. And I'm sure it wouldn't be difficult to find videos of loons protesting the war in Iraq. But it doesn't mean they were wrong to do so, and it certainly doesn't mean the general cause of the protesting wasn't righteous. Basically, you creating the OP makes you look just as foolish as the people in the videos to which you linked.

I love the guy in the skull costume in the first video. I am starting to think about trick or treating costumes for Halloween and he has the right idea to scare little kids walking down the street.

Priceless.

In the second video, of the HUGE anti-tea party protest by Lafayette Park in front of the White House - what was the claimed attendance?

Third video - Freedom of speech is not Fascism! Note: these are conservative protesters being attacked and shouted down by Washington, DC liberals.

BTW, many in DC thought the 9/12 marchers would be similarly attacked. The huge size of the crowd and the burly nature of many of the 9/12 march participants precluded physical attacks by DC liberals. Or maybe it was the half dozen or so kids in kung fu costumes that accomplished this. We are still waiting for the media to confirm.

Who cares? I'm more interested in seeing you correct your insane overestimation of the recent DC tea party crowd. You and Beck were off by about 1.4 - 1.6 million people.

How much do you want to bet the guy in the blue hat has had more than his fair share of liquid courage?

BTW, I just found a video of those kung fu kids getting warmed up for the 9/12 March On Washington -

Kung Fu Kids practice on some very serious DC Liberal volunteers

There should always be anti-war protesters when we are in a fake war. These soldiers should never have to of been given death sentences fighting over there for no reason. You can show all this antiwar protest footage - but the only thing it shows is that these people were right. We should never of gone to war. There is no reason for violence, it is the results of failed policy that you need to kill people to get your point across.

This is the balance of democracy, the population will not tolerate long drawn out wars with no exit strategy. I find it amazing that the generation that fought in Vietnam subjected their children to the exact same thing.

I used to work in Washington, dc and I will never forget a captain who I was talking with just snapped and said to me "I've killed 18 people and I don't care" The look on his face was amazement. It's like he himself was in shock by this revelation. He pointed to the capitol and said "they don't care about us" and he's right. Most of the antiwar protesters DO care about him and other soldiers. They don't want to see the minds and bodies of our soldiers destroyed any more then we want to see other people of this world be destroyed.

So I guess my point is it's not crazy to protest war - war is insane. It should not be tolerated.

What are the teabaggers fighting? Nothing as noble as peace I can tell you this.

You misunderstood what the Captain was saying. The Democrats use phrases like "take care of our troops" to push positions which would invalidate and negate results that they shed their blood for. He was just pointing out to you the cynical nature of this tactic. I am not surprised that you accept and espouse the idea without a wink and a nod.

are you a fucking moron? You were sitting on my shoulder while I talked to this man? It amazes me that you would take the bit of my story I told you and assume that he was speaking in code to his fellow conservative.

I am not surprised at your interpretation, some people hear what they want to hear no matter what is said.

Are you sure your Captain actually meant to say something like "I killed, and I don't care and the Congress doesn't care about us, but the Democrats and the Code Pink people love us so much that they are doing everything possible to get us home away from an illegal and illicit war fostered by the evil Bush?"

I have heard many, many, many countering statements using language virtually identical to your Captain's. In fact, the particular turn of phrase of "taking care of our troops" is widely considered laughable by most of the troops I have spoken to when it is used by the anti-war people, for it is taken as a cynical betrayal of what the troops are doing there. Believe it or not, many deployed troops actually believe they made and are making a difference to a huge number of people over there. And there are others who believe we wasted lives and resources on an ungrateful foreign population of ragheads.

Perhaps you should consider that and avoid scurrilous personal attacks.

Did i say that? My entire point has flown so far over your head. strawman.

So the choice is
1. many deployed troops actually believe they made and are making a difference to a huge number of people over there.

or

2.there are others who believe we wasted lives and resources on an ungrateful foreign population of ragheads.

Why must you create such strawmen. This is why its impossible to talk to you. you haven't a clue...

And there can actually be other interpretations. The Captain realizes that human life is cheap and now, after the fact, that it was no big deal to him that he killed. He then snaps into another train of thought and rightfully exclaims the equivalent of "those damn politicians don't give a flying fuck about us." Or he can be making reference to a specific subset of (unidentified) politicians. Or he could just be pointing in the direction of a group of war protesters. Or a group of protesters in favor of the war. Or a group of secretaries waiting in line for a double soy latte. Context is key.

Oh hell, just use the damn story to make your point any way you like.

Friends, again?

People believing in limited government, responsible spending, etc. (the hallmarks of conservatism) are good opinions to have and those that have reservations about health care reform based on those opinions have some good points. However, equating Obama to Hitler, spreading flat out falsehoods, and rallying others in the name of fear and ignorance is disgraceful and leaves our entire country with a very large black eye when people behave that way.

History will show their vitriol.

They share the shame amongst themselves.
