Clearly you've never been to Walmart. Or Target. Or any big box retailer, really. Apparently for most American women, obesity is not a deterrent to wearing tank tops or booty shorts; actually, in many cases, obesity transforms ordinary shorts into booty shorts as few fabrics are able to withstand the levels of gravity emanating from the average ginormous American backside.

I've been to Walmart a couple times. I don't remember it being that bad. 90%?

lol maybe I'm out of touch. You're right about not going to target. Never been.

It's always amusing when conservatives quickly anoint some random person as a conservative folk hero, ie Cliven Bundy or this chick, and then watch the "nothing to see here" back tracking when it blows up in their face. Rooting out hypocrites among the self proclaimed red blooded patriotic American champions of religious and family values never gets old. She crushed the soul of an American soldier and committed an act worthy of death according to the bible. She'd pull off a solid hat trick if it's found she aborted a black baby.
lol. Hat trick?

Nice

Ah, so if someone posts photos and shares an opinion, their sexual history is fair game. So... everyone. Except the Amish I guess.

You people are so caught up in schadenfreude that you completely miss your own hypocrisy. "She was wrong to concern herself with the sexual behaviors of others, which we will demonstrate by concerning ourselves with hers." Sure, she was a hypocrite, but you're reveling in unmasking her as a fraud without realizing you've joined her in the mud.

You're way too concerned about the sex angle.

I'd be just as amused if it was a vociferous teetotaler that was busted at a keg party.

What if infidelity fucks over kids of unfaithful parents by causing divorce and long distance separation. Let the kids decide if the parents can have sex with whom they want. There are reasons for moral values and reasons to respect them. How about if the kids say they got fucked because a parent did, how about they get to execute that parent. It's always about me and my sexual needs.
That is a lot of dead holier than thou repuglicans... lets do it

I dont know what the heck the "tea party" has to do with this woman's personal life. It's not like she really did anything wrong anyway. That's between her and her husband. It's not like she flew out to some frickin private island and raped little children. Do you have any frickin idea the stuff that goes on out there? God there is some real ignorance amongst folks. The kind of ignorance that makes me want absolutely nothing to do with large swaths of this population. Tea party is about ending taxation without representation, libertarian ideals, mind your own business and live and let live, it has nothing to do with who this woman turns to in her dark hours.

I suppose you're right about my focus on the sex angle; it's not as lurid as other sex scandals we've seen by any stretch. I just think the level of digging into the private lives of "celebrities" the public is not only willing to tolerate but actively demands is completely absurd. We like stories like this, not just because of schadenfreude or exposing hypocrisy of those who we disagree with (as fun as that is), but because it's so lurid. Holier-than-thou person cheats on husband. Anti-gay politician solicits sex in men's room. Anti-drug talk show host addicted to painkillers. Public demand for this is fueling paparazzi journalism, it's encouraging hacking and dissemination of private nude photos, it's hanging on every little piece of gossip we can find that convinces us that the people we see on TV are just as fucked up as we are. It saddens me that this is what we want from our "journalism." It's so petty, and reflects an entitlement mentality on behalf of a viewing public who thinks they have the right to know everything about a person because they happen to be famous. Whatever happened to privacy?

It also bothers me on an intellectual level because ad hominem arguments are a logical fallacy. Discrediting the speaker doesn't actually discredit the ideas presented. So digging up dirt to expose someone as a hypocrite is just a way of avoiding actually debating their argument. I don't need Holly Hobby Lobby to be a hypocrite to disagree with her views on abortion or gay marriage; it's not like if she were the picture of fidelity I'd suddenly change my mind and think, "you're right, Hobby Lobby shouldn't have to cover Plan B." I'm content to let her have her opinions and hold my own; I don't need her exposed as a fraud to convince me that I was right all along. Her personal life doesn't enter into it. It's none of my business.

Nope, I am completely gender neutral in my bias against raging hypocrites.

I agree with you that we as a society enjoy the lurid, but I'm not sure anyone is holding this up as a shining example of serious journalism. The whole situation is TMZ'ish.

Which is exactly why I don't care about the fact that it's an ad hominem attack. This isn't about trying to debate her viewpoints. It's more about saying "Ha ha":

No point...just trying to figure how she got so "famous". But I'm also trying to figure out why the Left considers her to be such a significant conservative icon that she deserves their gleeful vitriol.

I can agree with you there. Seems some people are trying to draw parallels between this random lady taking pictures in her barn and America as a whole.

Remember, this was the same lady on Fox News acting as a spokesperson for the Tea Party.

It's not just some random soccer mom.

Yea, I just watched the interview with her. Fox really framed her as a victim. She was on the news, has over 57,000 followers for her Twitter account. I don't believe for a second she didn't want the publicity, she wanted to be known. Just another hypocrite partisan that wants to tell people how they should live but doesn't follow her own rules. Another religious person that 'knows' god is real but doesn't have so much faith that she'll actually follow her beliefs or her faith's rules when it becomes too inconvenient.

When I see a politician with the US flag pined to their lapel, THAT is a politician to keep your eye on.
Usually those are the politicians that would sell their own grandmother just to make some political point.

Now, I have to go back to work on my State of the Union speech. And I worked on it until pretty late last night. But I want to say one thing to the American people. I want you to listen to me. I'm going to say this again. I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Miss Lewinsky. I never told anybody to lie, not a single time—never. These allegations are false. And I need to go back to work for the American people.

When you decide to become a spokeswoman for God and country and living a superior Christian life, you are a public figure.

When you become a public figure you have to take the good with the bad, and potential exposure to skeletons in your closet.

There is no free lunch.

You guys are overthinking this. Let me join you...

She was an idiot on TV and called a whole TON of people a bunch of bad things. She made it about the bible. What does the bible say about infidelity? I don't know, lol, but it's probably a lot worse than "slut shaming".

Why are we required to respect her now? She's an idiot and I agree it's ignoble to treat her this way, but it's certainly understandable and, at least in my mind, not unjustified.

When you enrich yourself socially, economically, or tactically through the portrayal of a certain person, in this case a "noble soldier's wife", you are responsible of maintaining an appropriate reputation. She failed to do so, and as a result she is being made out to be an idiot, which IMO she is.

Try to have better self respect. You clearly have no idea what my posts on that episode reflect. I condemned him vehemently and still do.

She needs to get what she preaches. Time for her to be buried to her neck and stoned to death.

I think he also said earlier- "I'm no angel."

It's not like he claimed the moral high ground on the basis of lies. I don't recall him posing in front of the flag with a military style weapon & the bible, either.

It's remarkable how many idiots see no contradiction in doing so.
