If you can't form a cogent argument against this woman's viewpoint without resorting to slut-shaming then I'd question your rhetorical abilities. Her viewpoint is either wrong in spite of her sexual relationships, or it's correct but apparently since she's a bad person we should ignore it. Her hypocrisy doesn't enter into it. I don't need evidence of Jerry Falwell being a hypocrite to note that his particular brand of evangelical Christianity doesn't mesh with my views. Nor do I need evidence that this woman cheated on her husband to dismiss her jingoistic Bible-thumping imagery.
Two wrongs: making a right since 1868!
Her "viewpoint" can be summed up in the images she chose to drape herself in:
Bible + Flag + Hobby Lobby + Chic-fil-a + Pro-Life
All of those images were chosen to portray her values.
Values.
In essence, she's a Christian woman, and a patriot because her husband is off in the desert earning the MIC record profits.
She is vomiting those pictures out as a representative of Tea Party values, and she sure as hell doesn't mind the publicity from them.
Then it turns out that she not only doesn't really give a crap about the whole Christian values thing, but is actively betraying her military husband, which I would argue is pretty much not patriotism, and might even be considered the opposite of supporting the troops - unless it turns out she was banging another soldier, which wouldn't surprise me at all. Even if she was just banging another soldier, I'd call her supporting the troops prowess at best a wash, or on par with buying a ribbon magnet made in China from the local gas station.
When someone chooses to hold themselves out to the public as as example/role model/publicity stunt, they better be damn well ready to face a backlash when it turns out they're nothing but a hypocritical scumbag.
This isn't about her having sex. Leave it to Rush Limbaugh to slut shame women for having sex.
This is about her holding herself out as a symbol for the Tea Party/Conservative/Christian values and being a liar and a hypocrite.
She is free to have sex with whomever she wants, and I don't care.
But if you make yourself a public figure, or adopt it as an identity, watch out when the lie you've constructed blows up.
