My wife wants a new tea kettle for her birthday. The usual type that whistles. But I want to get her a realyl good one that will last.

Anyone got any ideas?

Back in a few minutes.

EDIT: Budget is $100 but I'd rather not go that high.

Make sure you get one that has a removable lid so she can clean the inside.

$100 for a kettle? Tell your wife to get out of the damn house every once in a while. I've never a met a kettle that didn't "last". But I guess that's typical for ATOT.. people paying 10x what they need to because they think something overpriced will "last".

As long as it isn't called black by the pot you should be fine. :)

Amazon user reviews should be helpful, they were when I looked last year. Price for a good one should be under $50.

I'd recommend something, but I'm still using my 20-year-old stainless steel one since I didn't get around to picking a replacement.

Get a kettle. Countless times I've put 2 cups worth of water on to boil and in the midst of fragging or a movie, I've forgotten about it. Thank God for copper plated pots.

Most new prodyuects these days are disposable crap. I bought a "good" gas grill for a reason. I spend money on things that I don't want to replace every 5 years.

Anyways, to the others, thanks for the amazon idea.

Trinitea FTW. You'll wonder how you ever took the time to fill a pot, boil water, steep bags, drain leaves.

Adagio also has a few conventional kettles. PM me and I can send you a $5 gift certificate.
