No, this TDK drive has the USB interface built-in to the drive itself. The housing around the drive is removeable, but without an interface in the housing, why bother?

I went in this morning to buy one of these as last night the price showed as $79.99 w/ an additional $20 off instore. I went in they rang up at $120 showed the print-out and then the dumb cashier went to consult a manager and came back w/ $40 rebates. There were NO rebates listed last night when I checked, I would not have woken my ass up this early to drive down there for a $40 CrapUSA rebate, the site and the product info page clearly listed the price as "$59.99* *after savings and rebate " but when you went to the product info page and read this "*(Price after one or more rebates. Click on price for detailed information.)" when you clicked on the price it simply reloaded the page no rebates ONLY showing the $79.99 price and $59.99 in store. I tried explaining this to the manager and he would not budge, he simply said, "Well I will give you the $20 off and a rebate but nothing more." I was pissed and left mention the Better Business Bureau and that I felt ripped off.

I can understand that CrapUSA had changed their page sometime between 5am and 11am when I went in, but that is pretty low. I will be calling corporate for some relief. I'm sure some other Anandtechers are in the same boat I am. Lets see $100 out the door and maybe $40 back if CrapUSA ever gets around to it, or as advertised, $59.99 out the door. I know that the site said that there was a rebate, but when I went there there was none to be found, the the site was not listing it, it read like the price was an instant price break sounds like false advertising to me.

I already have a 48x Liteon burner and a 80 gig USB hard drive (so I don't really need this ;)), I just wanted a cheap portable drive to take to work and burn some CDs rather than take my USB hardrive in. I stayed up WAY too late last night (5am ish) and decided to wake up early this morning to get in on this deal. I was a upset that I was up so early to be let down. I guess I should have slept in and read up on this again before I went in the I would not have been so irritable due to sleep deprivation.

just got back from CompUSA. Ours had 9 or so in stock.

It rang up $129.99, she rang it down to $99.99 after I showed her the ad and she printed out the $40 rebate for me. I'm gonna go send it off now.

$60 isn't bad, i can't replace the housing but I'm not too concerned about that, I won't be using anything else anyway. Besides, it's pretty attractice :)

Nice Deal! No CompUSA here, I may pick one up over the web. It wont let me access the rebate though (ala Dell 120gb). Anyone know where or how to get the rebate pdf?

If you can find it in stock at CC, price match to CUSA to get 110% of the difference off. So you should be able to get this drive for $150 - $55 (110% pm) - $40 (MIR) = $55 plus tax at circuit city. And circuit city also has a $40 mail in rebate so pricematch if you can find it in stock (sold out in Rockville, MD).

They changed the flier, but if you go to the item's page, it shows $79.99 and has a little note about "$20 off in store".

Yeah its loud (I've read from user reviews) and it uses the old Z-CLV burning style.
