TDK VeloCD 16-10-40x incompatible with EPoX 8k7a

Wondering if it's just me with this problem...

I get CRC errors when trying to copy files off the TDK VeloCD 16-10-40x.

Reading seems fine, but copying files to the hard drive causes writing errors.

I've switched it from IDE2 to IDE1, tried it as a slave and master, changed ribbons, updated the Velo firmware to 5.32, tried all the available 8k7a bios, tried all the VIA/AMD drivers, to changed operating systems, and tried many different CD's.

All have resulted in the same problem.

I have also switched the VeloCD with other CD/CD-r drives on my EPoX and the others work perfect.

I have also switched the VeloCD into my P3-650 computer with an Abit BE6-II motherboard and the VeloCD works flawlessly.

I'm chalking it up to a incompatability with the 8k7a and VeloCD 16-10-40x, but would like to confirm this with others.

At this current time I'm in ME...but I've tried Win2000, WinSE and just tried WinXP pro on another hard drive.

All of them produce the same error while every other CD-ROM or CD-R I've tried works perfect.

And, as I mentioned, the Velo works perfect on my P3 system. Only In the AMD system is it not functioning properly.

It's plugged into the IDE2 currently (ATA 33/66/100). I've tried different ribbons as well.

DMA is checked and it was also enabled on Win2000.

What I am basically looking for is other VeloCD owners to see if they are expirencing the same issues.

Maybe I can solve this (not that I SHOULD have to...it SHOULD be working like it does on my P3 system!)

Try turning DMA off on your burner. That's counterintuitive, but may work.

I don't believe it!

Turning OFF DMA did the trick. I never even bothered to try that because from everything that I have read, DMA needs to be ON in an AMD system.

What is to be expected now that it's off?
