TDK VeloCD 16/10/40 and 4.28 VIA Drivers?

If any can confirm this I would like to know.

I tested the new VeloCD 16/10/40 on an Abit VP6 and an MSI 694D-AR both would not run CDSpeed99 or CDDAE99 in 2000 until I uninstalled the 1428 Via Chipset UDMA driver and installed the 1425a Via drivers.

The older Via drivers give very crappy performance. It seemed to work OK in 98 but 2000 was very poor.

I'll post my screenshots if someone is interested.

This is an established bug with the via drivers. I have a plextor drive and get the same thing. The newest update to the software that came with my cdrom (plexmanager 1.09) fixed it for some things like adaptec easy cd. Unfortunately, clonecd is still not working and that is the main program i use.

A friend is considering this drive; I have the 12/10/32 and love it. Sort of off-topic, does the 16/10/40 support raw recording (like the 12/10/32 does)?

I am using the 4.25 drivers now without problems, but then I'm probably not real picky about sppeds.

For Win2K, it's usually a good idea to try the default Service Pack 1 IDE driver. Unless you have one of the VIA chipsets with ATA/100 you should be fine. And if you have a ATA/100 chipset, there is a hotfix from MS which can help some.
