Pros: -Comes with a case that's better than what you typically get as a freebie. -Able to handle high bitrate files as well as VBR mp3s (an average bitrate is displayed for VBR files). -Clean headphone port - no noise unwanted noise generated with the volume turned all the way up. -LCD is easy to read and also has a blue blacklight. -Cheap - purchased on sale for $99 after MIR.
Cons: -Non-standard USB cable. -SD/MMC card slot doesn't have a cover, you need to purchase a SD/MMC card to close it up or buy a "dummy card" from somewhere. -Buttons are small and difficult to use. -Reviewed unit had a badly placed battery contact spring; installing a battery in a way to make contact was difficult. -FM sound quality is very horrible with high levels of distortion. -Poor sound quality - comments (below) based on an --alt-preset insane MP3 encoded with LAME 3.92: -Lacks volume and detail on highs; whatever is audible isn't detailed (headphone used: Koss KSC-35). -Driving high impediance headphones (AKGs) is possible, but results in audible distortion.
