I haven't seen this posted so, I thought I'd share. If it was posted already, sorry!

CC has the "Certified Plus" TDK 80min 700MB 30 packs for FREE after 2 rebates if you buy at the B&M.

Here's a link to CC.

One rebate says limit 3. The other rebate says limit 1. You might have to check the store about how many rebates you can get for sure.

Anyway, have fun!

These are TDK "Certified Plus," 12x, 700MB, 80 min CD-Rs. Ths package label on mine says "made in USA." They are are blue color on the record side if that makes any difference.

Um...there are no "Certified Plus" 12x disks. The "Certified Plus" disks are "All-Speed" and are actually made by TDK. The disks listed at CC are "100% Certified" which are not made by TDK and are only rated for 12x. Also, they are of considerably lower quality because they don't use TDKs "Isopure" dye technology.

Sleeper, I don't quite understand, ppl say when you buy TDK, make sure it is from Japan, not Taiwan. Is it because the Taiwan version don't use the Isopure dye technology that you mention or is it because of somehting else?

I got news for you Sleeper. I bought these today and they say on the disks themselves "Certified Plus". The tops are white in color, and the back a blue-ish color. The disks are made here in USA. Since I run W2K, I haven't found a CD itdentifier program that I can use to give you the details on the discs. But anyway, they are "Certified Plus".

Shouldn't we go for the 100% Certified, Made in Japan, silver top CD-Rs? Are all the new 74 minute TDKs Taiyo Yudens now?

If I got these a couple weeks ago on the last CC deal, can I get them again and send more rebate forms to TDK?

btw, yes, it was posted in a CC post earlier, and Sleeper, these say certified plus right on them

I thought the white topped, blue bottomed CD-Rs from TDK were the best. These are the ones that come with the Velo CD burner...

Certified Plus cdrs are/were made in TDK's Georgia plant. However, i've heard that TDK is possibly slowly moving away from cdr media production and possibly moving towards Taiyo Yuden for their high quality OEM and god-knows-who for their cheap crap - probably CMC or Giga as Ritek has had their license either severely limited or taken away over the last couple of months.

100% Certified has been made by Ritek.

Printed near the hub is "Certified Plus" and on the label, it says 12x, made in USA. A search of the forum for TDK, confirms that these are the high quality TDK CDs. I also ran the CD-identifier program (found a link in the TDK search) and it reported that they are made by TDK. Another member said that he ran CD-identifier on the 100% certified TDK CD and it said it was made by Ritek. To get 30 high quality CDs for tax + 2 stamps is a great bargain IMO!

Jrrichards,

I tried to figure out what the problem was with my system and I found it. I didn't have the ASPI layers installed at all on in W2K. Weird, but I bet when I deleted a program once I told it to delete these files not thinking they would be used by other programs. Anyway, that's why I got a blue screen everytime I tried to execute the CDR Identifier program. So, I got the latest version of Adaptec ASPI layers installed version 4.6 and now I can use CDR Identifier. So, here's what the TDK "Certified Plus" CDR's say on CDR Identifier:

Disk Manufacturer: TDK Corp.

Recording Layer: Dye (Long Strategy; e.g. Cyanine, Azo etc.)

Media Type: CD-Recordable

nominal Capacity: 702.83MB (79m 59s 74f / LBA: 359849)

Recording Speeds: min. unknown - max. unknown

So, these are made by TDK, so I guess these are good! I wouldn't know though cause everything I use in my CD-RW drive works.

:)

I just got back from CC and they had plenty at Burbank, CA. There are to rebates, one for CC and one for TDK. The TDK one states, limit three and the CC one says limit one.

If you order these online for express pick-up at your local store there is no charge for shipping. This way you can find out if they are in stock and maybe save yourself a trip if they aren't. Also - if it says out of stock you can request an e-mail when they become available again. This worked for me as they showed OOS at my store yesterday and today I received a mail saying they had them in stock again so I placed an order and just have to go pick them up.
