if you don't wanna bother with the pm, could you just get from target and use the mfg rebate and get it for 3 bucks?

These show up in my CC ad as being $4.99 after rebates. But then it shows the breakdown as $24.99 - $10 manufacturers rebate - $15 CC rebate. Wouldn't that be free?

Just got back from CC.

$10 rebate from TDK - Young America
$15 rebate from CC - Young America

Looks like a great deal even if you don't do the PM since Young America is pretty good with their rebates. My CC wouldn't PM unless I had an ad and I didn't see mention of it in the Target circular. Guess I need to buy it at Target and then run back to CC.

Ahhh, the work they make me do just to earn some $

OK, just got back from CC and the freaking manager was called over and he basically refused to match with Target, saying over and over that their price was lower after rebates :( I ended up saying, "fine, I'll go and buy them from Target then". So, I brough two packs of 50 at target for around 27 :/ Does anyone know if the $10 manufacturers rebate is for CC only? I looked at the link above and it requires an original CC receipt. Any ideas on how to pricematch with CC now I have a Target receipt?

Thanks,

The Fish.

Just an FYI,

I just bought a 100-pk of TDK CD-Rs (80 min/700 MB, 16x rated) from Target for $23.00 and this batch is ID'ing as being manufactured by CMC Magnetics Corp., not Taiyo Yuden or Ritek...

I've used CMC branded media in the past without incident.

That sucks man. I ended up buying 3 packs without any problem, even from the manager who had to authroize the thing. He even let me ring them up seperately.

If I were you, I'd go back when that guy isn't there, show them the target ad and try again. Their policy says nothing about price matching if CC themselves offers a rebate.

Go back to CC, buy them, get CC rebate receipt, then return them to CC using original receipt, keeping the rebate receipt.

just got back 2. some dumbazz high school guy won't pm at first. I said the rebates are manufacturor, so you should pm. Eventually he pm the price, but only printed out the $10 tdk rebate, not the $15 cc rebate. I didn't wanna argue with him since i could print the rebate out from online. BTW, they are made in taiwan, so no TY for us. Still, good deal none the less.

Here is what Circuit City says about in-store price guarantee:

"In-Store Low Price Guarantee

For every product we sell, we'll match any advertised price from a local store stocking the same new item, available for sale with a manufacturer's warranty and in a factory-sealed box. Even after your purchase, if you find a lower advertised price within 30 days, including our own sale prices, we'll refund the difference.

Our Low Price Guarantee does not apply when the price includes bonus or free offers, special financing, installation or rebate, or to one-of-a-kind or other limited offers or against a competitor's tagged price that is not in an advertisement. For cellular phones and pagers, our Low Price Guarantee applies to hardware only, provided that the competitor's service provider, service plans, terms and conditions are the same."

Depending how you they interpret this, they could say that if they offer a rebate they don't have to pricematch. Or they might be saying if for example the target price was $13 after rebate, they would not have to price match it. I think it means the latter, but they could use this policy along with some obfuscation to turn you down.

Important point: Don't piss off the store managers to our local CUSA, BB, CC, OD and OMs. If you do they will be that much less likely to help with a reasonabe deal next time for ALL OF US. Please keep this in mind. Thanks.

If the TDK's are either Ritek or CMC, then they are pretty low-quality. I'd only use them to give to friends or use for low-priority stuff. Damn I wish there was a way to tell what company made the cdrs before you open them. But so far it looks like there's a 66% chance you'll get low-quality cdrs (Based on the three responses, ritek, cmc, and ty).

from my experiences.. my hypothesis is that the TY manufactured ones come in a black spindle and the Ritek ones come in the grey spindle. also, the black spindle one is has the base about an inch think while the grey spindle one is about 1/4 an inch. hope that helps.

Absoutely the latter.

They are specifically saying they do not have to price match if there is a rebate involved from the store they are price matching. The policy is clear, you may price match an advertised price. In fact, no where does it say anything about that store having any in stock either, just the advertised price.

I went to my CC and they matched the price of $13.00. The $10.00 rebate prints out and says you can do up to 3 per person. The girl was kind enough to print out 2 of the $15 dollar rebates for me too. I don't know if I can get 2 of those. The lady said mail it to another address. LOL! She was totally cool! Anyway, I'm definitly getting back $35.00, and perhaps $50.00 total. I spent $28.00.

Best case I make $22.00 for buying two 50 packs.

Worst case I make $7.00 for buying two 50 packs.

NICE DEAL!

BTW, they had 24X and 32X. I ended up with one of each.

Same here! CC PM'ing **sucks!** I even had the Target circular w/me but because it didn't have the EXACT model number in the ad, the sales manager wouldn't PM it....I then drove to another CC, and same thing. I hope you all had better luck than me.

You guys crack me up with this low quality CD stuff. I bet no one has ever seen a disc go bad after burn, without mis treatment. In fact, if you readthis article at CDMedia World you can see that the only way you can test so called "quality" of the media is by putting these CD-R's in a heat chamber and beating the crap out of them.

The only thing that article proved to me is that even if I buy so called "low quality" media for burning, under normal usage and care, I'll most likely be dead before the CD won't work!

Folks, give the quality issue a rest! :)

BTW, here is what I bought:

ATIP: 97m 15s 17f
Disc Manufacturer: Ritek Co.
Reflective layer: Dye (Short strategy; e.g. Phthalocyanine)
Media type: CD-Recordable
