TDK burner causes reboots!!

Hi,

I have a 40x TDK Burner and Nero, whenever I burn the computer always reboots and sometimes I get a BSOD. What gives? I am using Windows XP. Also, sometimes it freezes in games. Can't figure it out. Could it be because its a weak power supply and burning uses alot of current?

I'm going to take a wild guess here. I was having some mysterious problems with my TDK burner. It wouldn't burn properly, tried all these reinstallation, DMA, ASPI tricks people suggested.

The problem was power supply. After I removed everything but the absolute necessity components it started working perfectly. It was unable to get enough voltage from my lower quality 350W power supply. I had no other problems with my computer so PSU wasn't first thing on my mind when looking for a solution. Now I'm looking at power supplies and will most likely go for Antec Truepower 430W

If all fails, you can try to burn at a slower speed (not sure if that would help) first to see if it would work until you find the problem. Maybe you could try this. Burn at a slower speed and see what happens. If it goes through fine, then try to burn at an even faster speed (or if you don't want to waste another CD after this, burn @ the fastest speed) If it goes fine, then great, your TDK Burner is fine but if it does what you're reporting, I would guess it could be the power supply (can't confirm this but burning at faster speed might use more voltages i think) so it could link to your power supply. Update to the LATEST Nero or whatever software you are using (and also drivers). Some burning software might not have support for WinXP and if they don't, you should check to see if they have any fixes/drivers for WinXP. Good Luck.
